The way to tell the difference at a glance, without actually learning each language, is this: Korean characters have alot of little circles in them, Japanese characters look like curly fries, and Chinese characters are lotsandlotsandlotsof littlelines all put together and on topofoneanother. Hope this helps!
Jen
P.S. By the way, I'm not just some wacko- I actually DO speak Chinese and Japanese. (but Korean still looks like math- lol!)

The characters are essentially the same... that's why you will often see "Chinese-like" writing in Japan. Difference is that Japanese mostly use their own alphabet (Hiragana and Katakana) to write out the words instead of the characters (Kanji). Kanji characters are very similar to the Chinese characters.

first of all , Korean is very different from japanese and chinese, just like vietnamese is different with lao and thai. secondly , it's nature 4 u have trouble with it, becos japanese writes their japanese in chinese. no kidding. they borrowed that from us long time ago and used it as their own. plus here in chinese we have two kinds of chinese: simplified chinese and traditional chinese. the second one is out of date, but the taiwan goverment advocate that becos they want 2 show a difference with the mainland as if saying:"look, we are not chinese! we even use different languages" ,but the fact is no. The other reason they r using traditional chinese is becos they r politically close with Japan.guess u know what i 'm talkin' about here, japanese have traditional chinese in their language.
by the way,
dont ever try to compare chinese with japanese, nobody here likes them.

Usually Chinese are a little bit tanner. it's very hard to tell the difference between a Japenese person and a Chinese Person. If it's a Korean, they don't have that eye lid thing.

Do you recognize the difference?
------------------------------...
English
I am American.
Chinese
我是美国人
Japanese
私はアメリカ人です。
Both C and J has Chinese charactor. Chinese sensense is written in only Chinese character basically. But Japanese is not. Japaense use 3 different characters. sometime Roman alphabet is also used.
私 and 人 = Kanji(amost same with Chinese character)
は and です = Hiragana
アメリカ = Katakana

sure. chinese language makes use of in basic terms kanji, while eastern makes use of two different "alphabets". eastern seems greater curvy, Chineses seems greater boxy and sophisticated. the flexibility to tell the version purely comes certainly as you learn one among the two languages.

japanese charactors has a lot of curves in it as opposed to chinese charactors. yes, they do share a lot of characters...but if you look for all of the curves, you'll be able to tell the difference.
