It is my understanding that Hep.C is not transmitted as easy as Hep. B during sexual contact. Hep C , I have heard Hep C lives in "ink" bottles for 9 days. To get Hep. C there has to be copious amounts of blood.

First of all, Hep C probably isn't very easy to get through having "normal" sex since roughly only 9% of the cases in the US are linked to this type of transmitive model.

Hep C is not a sexually transmitted disease. It is a blood bourn disease. There needs to be contact with an infected persons blood in order to get infected. There is a slight risk of contracting it by having sex if blood is involved. Hep B is sexually transmitted.

I do not know where you get the fact that HCV is "easy" to get through sex, but this idealization is false.

HCV corpuscles (found in semen) are basically dead cells of the virus. They are not transmittable.

The highest probabilities for tranmission of HCV during sex include:

The "acute" infection stage. There are not many signs of HCV the first few months, but maybe flu like symptoms.

Multiple sex partners. Vigorous Sexual Activity, Anal Sex.

About .06% of those hcv infected get HCV through sex (there are over 4 million in the United States infected so in reality your looking at 1 in 900?), but you also have to consider household infectious routes, i.e., sharing a razor, toothbrush. This would knock the percentage down to probably .02 percent.

Bare with me, as I am not good in numbers, but HCV is very hard to catch sexually, espcecially in a monogomous relationship.

Many of those in long term relationships have a partner with HCV but have never acquired HCV from their partner.

On another note the other virus - HBV is highly contagious through sex.

Small cuts and abrasions happen during sex, they are microscopic but can still provide a route for infection. Deep kissing (French kissing) can also provide a route for infection if you have any kind of sores or cuts inside your mouth. The reason that you can't transmit STD's during dry kissing is that there is no exchange of body fluids.

Hep C is blood bourne. During intercourse, micro tears are made in the tissues of the sexual organs, and the disease is transmitted with the bleeding, (microscopic), that occurs. You don't generally draw blood when you kiss someone.

How could I get hepatitis C?

You could get hepatitis C by sharing drug needles. Hepatitis C spreads by contact with an infected person's blood. You could get hepatitis C by:

Sharing drug needles
Getting pricked with a needle that has infected blood on it (hospital workers can get hepatitis C this way)
Being born to a mother with hepatitis C
In rare cases, you could get hepatitis C by:

Getting a tattoo or body piercing with unsterilized, dirty tools
Having sex with an infected person, especially if you or your partner has other sexually transmitted diseases
You can NOT get hepatitis C by:

Shaking hands with an infected person
Hugging an infected person
Kissing an infected person
Sitting next to an infected person
Could I get hepatitis C from a blood transfusion?

A doctor can test you for hepatitis C. If you had a blood transfusion or organ transplant before 1992, you might have hepatitis C. Before 1992, doctors could not check blood for hepatitis C, and some people received infected blood. If you had a blood transfusion or organ transplant before 1992, ask a doctor to test you for hepatitis C.
