how can god set these rules and regulations on humans, when he has no idea what it is to be human, yes i know that he was in human form as jesus, but that is not the same, he knew who he was and what was to be done and the little fact that he is god....to all of us regular folk, it is not cool. he has no idea what it is to be human and be faced with our problems and all our drama and he doesnt know what stress is. so we have alot of factors that screw us over, its kind of hypocritical.

I see how you came to this conclusion but let me give an analogy that may explain how this is fair.

If I'm an engineer and I design cars, I've never been a car and I have no idea what it's like to be a car but I still define how the care should work and be put together.

This makes sense because although I've never been a car and I do not posses inside knowledge of what it's like to be a car I am an engineer and I've studied how cars work, what their stresses are and what's good for them and what's not so there for I do have appropriate authority to define how a car should operate if it's going to have the best most efficient possible existence.

In the same way God made us he knows us in side and out and his rules are set up so we can have the best possible existence. Because he made us he actually has a much better idea of what's good for us and what's not then we do.

Well, I must admit that you have a point there. You really do.

When I pray, for example, and I mean absolutely no disrespect towards my Lord, sometimes, I get the strange feeling that he cannot empathize totally with what I am feeling, experiencing, and going through. Pain is a very subjective matter, and how can anyone tap into that? Sometimes, I feel like we are suffering, and God just goes about his business. We may be comparable to dust on a far off planet- empty- desolate- and devoid of any significant meaning. It's sad.

Then again, there is another side- God does love us, and doesn't intend for us to suffer. Please don't ask me how to square this away...God is all powerful, all loving, and intends to prevent suffering- but he chooses not to. The universal question is begged- "why?"

I don't know. It would take a sadder and wiser man to answer that one. But even if there is an answer, and there probably is not, the answer would probably not provide any consolation.

There are just a few harsh truths to face, and the truth doesn't always set us free. Sometimes, it imprisons us.

Life has not been, nor will it ever be fair. That is the ugly truth. I am mean enough to tell it.

I don't care for vacuous explanations. Some people remark that suffering builds character. All right- so how then does character have significance?

I don't want to end this on such a pessimistic note. I want to say that I believe God cares about our pain- but for some strange reason, I think that he is so far above us and is so remote and detached that he cannot empathize with subjective agony.

Men created religions and religious practices to express how they felt about God and to live better lives. Men set most of the rules. The basic laws of God - like the 10 commandments are what good and honorable people are doing anyway. I don't see what the problem is.

In the gospels, Jesus summarized God's law as " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 22, 36-40)

If people could follow those instructions there would be no war and every one could be reasonably happy. Those are (in my opinion) the only laws God wants men to follow. And they're just basic good behavior. Many religious practices developed to force men to behave in this honorable way instead of pillaging and plundering.

If you're a good and kind person, you're following these rules anyway. So unless you steal, lie, cheat, kill, are judgmental etc. you're already obeying God's law.

Anything else is basically a man made law.

No Jack, it is not hypocritical. The problem with your question is that it presumes that God should be accountable to Man. Even though you say that God is not human, you mean, "If He were human, then he would know what to do!"

God is not a man, Jack, therefore He is not answerable to Man.

Remember, God started with only one rule for humanity: "Do not eat of the tree that grows in the middle of the garden... the tree of the fruit 'of the knowledge of right & wrong...'" Who blew it? God, or the our first parents?

It is human nature to blame God (or the devil) for our own faults and failings. It is time we learn to use our gift of free will responsibly.

So, according to the Bible Jesus was tortured a bit and was killed. First, many people have been tortured far worse than Jesus was. And even if Jesus was tortured a lot, by human terms, it was only for a day or so. For a god that is bigger than the universe and lasts for eternity, that must not even register as much as a mosquito bite would to us.

According to the Bible, it was more of a brief inconvenience than a sacrifice.

Since God created us in His image, He knows all about us; far more than we know about ourselves. He knew we could never be perfect in this life which was why He sent Jesus to atone for our sins. The Bible tells us that now we see darkly as in a mirror but when we are in Heaven we will understand all those things we don't understand now. That's what faith is all about; knowing and believing even though we don't see everything now but we trust in our Maker. As for the rules and regulations: Jesus came to give us a new law; to love God with all our might and our neighbors as ourselves. That's really quite simple. Loving God; loving each other. Since God watches over the little sparrows, I'm quite sure He watches over us too. Since He even has the hairs of my head numbered, I'm confident He knows everything about me. After all, He hears me when I pray and he understands all my worries, all my stress, all my problems and that's good enough for me!

We are God's creation. Man was not always like this. When Adam and Eve were first created they were without sin. But by disobeying God, they fell and became sinful. It has gotten worse for us ever since. God made humans with free will, we can do anything we want, whenever we want. We are free to reject Him, or love and serve Him. It's our choice. But everthing that is wrong with the world was brought on my our own doings. God is merciful and we should thank Him that He does not give us what we deserve.

GOD is a metaphor. He's well within his rights to put these rules and regulations and standards on Humans even though he's not one. If you live a life of sin and do not repent or call on Jesus, you will roast in Hell for the rest of Eternity. Deal with it.

FYI. If you go to learn how to bake cakes and you keep telling yourself "It can't be done!", "I don't want to!" "It isn't practical!" "I don't believe it!!!" the whole time, you will never learn how to bake cakes. If you ever want to figure out how GOD really works and why, might I suggest taking your head out of yourass first. I promise it will make the entire process flow more efficiently.

Hebrews 2:17 (NLT) Therefore, it was necessary for Jesus to be in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. He then could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.

No stress? In the Garden of Gethsemane his sweat was like drops of blood. There are articles on this physical manifestation, which I won't go into, but suffice to say He was in MAJOR turmoil.

When Jesus came, He experienced all the things we do. He got hungry, was tired, became frustrated could feel pain. Yes, He really did experience all of the temptations and hardships we do. He had to, otherwise Satan could've said, "you would've failed if you'd have gone through that!" So Jesus went through everything, most of it probably was mental temptation, to prove to Satan He could do it and so that He could conquer every temptation and completely beat death. Jesus doesn't know what stress is? Remember when He was praying in the garden? He bled He prayed so hard. He felt God turn His face away when He died, that's why He cried out "My God! My God! Why have you forsaken me?" Jesus did experience everything we do, that was part of becoming human, allowing Himself to be tempted by sins and to experience human life.
