It hurts a little more than on an area that has more fatty tissue around it...anywhere that is near a bone is more painful. But not so much that you couldn't bear it. I would however consider getting one somewhere easier to cover...you might not always like the tattoo you decide on now. Also, always bring your own artwork for your tattoo...this will insure that there won't be a thousand more people out there with the same one. Besides tattoo artists have much more respect for those that have their own artwork rather than someone who chooses the goofy flash art off of the wall.

If you get a tatoo close to bone yes it hurts. I have a tatoo on my calf and it didnt hurt at all.

I have one near my ankle, that didn't hurt. Right on your ankle sounds like it could be painful

everyone's different, you wont know until you try.

But, make sure, whatever you do, if you DO get a tat, make sure that it's a licensed and inspected tat parlor--there's too many diseases out there to take that kind of risk!

my cousin said it hurt but she did get one on each ankle! my sis has one on her foot... it's hella cute!
