the Red Cross paid people $20 for a pint?
I am just wondering because when a person gets their hospital bill they are charged for blood that is DONATED to the hospital.

I realize that it takes time and money to make sure the blood is screened for diseases, I was just wondering if more people would participate if they were paid for their pint.

Yeah, people would probably give more. Even if it was 10 bucks, I bet people would still give more.

If the Red Cross paid for blood, then it wouldn't be DONATING now would it?

The bill you get from the hospital is to cover the maintenance of donated blood, the equipment needed to maintain the blood and the transfer and what not.

More people would probably donate blood for money, but that doesn't really make it a donation. People need to stop focusing on themselves and start giving back to their communities. The world would be a much better place if the majority of the people on it weren't completely self centered.

The blood might be donated, but it took people to collect it, then it was tested/screened for diseases, typed, etc before being put into supply to be used for those in need. All that stuff costs money.

Some people that would donate can't. My father was in the military and I was born in Germany and remained there through 1981. If you were in Germany those years on a military installation, you cannot donate blood. You may be a Mad Cow carrier.

Not really because when you pay for it you are paying for the staffing, the storage, and transportation of the blood. It doesn't fall from the sky people have to actually spend their day collecting it. (usually for a fee)

They could just stop asking embarrassing questions. I want to donate, not be sweated. Test all blood, and stop insulting donors!!

I would do it regardless, but yes I do think there are people like that. It would also be a good way for homeless to make money.
