My thoughts exactly. If god made us and he really is almighty then he would have know how we would turn out. He would have known Adam and Eve would have disobeyed him etc etc. So the question is why did he set us up for a fall?

Well, for one, Mary was just the mother of Jesus, and a faithful sevent of God. Not a prophet or holy being. She was a sinner like everybody else. God and Jesus are not "shocked" at us. They only care because we are sinning and breaking rules that he set and if we do that without asking forgivenss we will be separated from him forever. (i know it sound corny but hey) He made us this way because he wanted us to be able to choose to follow him, not be robotically programmed.
