The purebred rottie, probably will live about 10-12 years, on average, depending upon the heredity, if known. Believe it or not, the mix dogs are going to live longer, possibly up to 15 years although have heard of longer. It does have to do with the size of the dog, the heredity(if known) and the health or health history of the dog/species and what food is fed. We have a Labrador, who is 13 years old, Golden Retriever mix, collie mix, and they're all 7 and up...........and going strong!!!!!!!!!!!

I bred Rottweilers (German Bloodlines-not imports)...my male passed June 29th of this yr...he was 11 yrs, 2 months and 29 days...he passed peacefully in the back yard under a shade tree.
I think the oldest Rotti on record was 13? 16? not very old in human yrs, but the average life is 8-10 yrs.
Don't let your dogs get over weight...that could cause an early death (later in yrs)...keep them on a good dog food (if found at wal-mart, don't feed it)...my husband made the comment that the new (better) dog food that we have the Great Dane puppy on is not a oily as the old...Pedigree vs. Nutro Natural Choice and Science Diet. (think of a cheap dog food as candy, and a good dog food as meat, fruits and veggies...by the way, your dog is a carnivore, not a herbivore).
Also, spend the money on dental care for them...healthy teeth mean a healthy dog...Barron still had all of his teeth because I cleaned them myself every month or so! Usually unheard of in a dog that old...our vet also asked when this 11yr old was going to not act like a puppy anymore!

Pretty much, anywhere for 10 to 13 yrs. That's pretty high end average for most larger breeds.
