What is a good way to figure out a magickal name for yourself?

I've already tried searches through the internet, and books too. I just cant seem to find one that fits me. Any ideas to help?

Things I like: anything to do with water, cats, motion/movement, art, basically anything that is beautiful (jewels, stones, fabrics, wood, ect) ...Too many things to try and pick one thing from.

Tirya has great advice (I always like her answers) :-).... You should think if there are any specific animals, crystals, stones, trees that you really are attracted to. Also, don't overlook using deity names -- I know one woman who goes by Hera.

Rogue Wyndwalker IS my magickal name. I chose rogue, in the sense that rogues are in Dungeons and Dragons -- they are stealthy people, creeping around in the shadows trying not to get caught. When I chose the name I was VERY much in the closet and was hiding my true self from almost everyone.

Wynd (wind) my sun sign, Gemini, is associated with wind. I am also Finnish, and Finns are known for being good at weather magick, which is often associated with the element of air. But 'Wyndwalker' also has to do with my walking precariously through life to keep my true self hidden to prevent persecution and judgement from others.

Since then I have become very OUT of the closet. I am very proud of who I am, what I believe, and where i have been. I have tried to 'change' my magickal name since then, but I guess I haven't outgrown it just yet. The one time I tried to all of my pagan friends told me to change it back, LOL, that they could never think of me by any other name than Rogue!

I still love the name, it's beautiful and unique. I have DEFINETLY never come across anyone else with the same name!

(Plus, of course, it matches numerologically, to my date of birth!)

as far as a magick [ yes there is a K in there ]
take your D.O.B. and add the numers together
example 02-09-1977
2+9+1+9+7+7= 35
3+5=8 so 8 would be your magick number
choose a name you best like and you do the same for your name . each letter has a numerical value

J K L M N O P Q R
S T U V W X Y Z
so choose a name and find the numerical value to it . just choose something you think that fits you and your personality . if the value of the numbers dont match at that point you can kinda add different spellings of the name or word to fit your numeralology.
example is if you like the name dragonfly = 47 =4+7 =11 =1+1=2
so dragonfly is 2 ,but you need it to equal 9 , so by adding an extra g would be 7 more so that would +9 and fit .

Your magical name will reveal itself to you when you are ready. I struggled for months looking for the right name, and then one day while flipping through a book, it leapt out at me. I know someone whose magickal naem literally fell from the sky, when a leaflet spiraled down on a city street. Don't rush it, be patient, magick takes time. All will be revealed.

The connection to water is a good start.

I went without for *years* until it came to me. You don't need one, except that it does provide a good distinction between magickal and thisworldly stuff. With more practice of your Craft and more self-knowledge, you'll get it.

Are there elements, stones, animals that resonate with you? Is there a certain pantheon that you work with? Meditate on it and ask for guidance with it.

Just make up a name that sounds funky or scientific. Then it can be magical in its own way.
