I mean, he never wanted it to become a religion, he just wanted to teach others the will of god.

I think he would be disappointed in so many of the things that have been done in his name. I think he would squash Christianity as not being what he would've wanted! He wanted to spread brotherhood and love.........not control people! Good question. blessings to you!

No not at all. Jesus Christ just wanted the Word to be spread to all people alike. He wanted people to know that he is and always will be the only true God. That the wages of sin is death and he died for our sins. Whats wrong with that? How do you know what he wanted? He never said 'I don't want this to become a religion'. I'm sure if he didn't want it to be then it would not be, don't you? All things happen according to his plan. His and His alone. I'm assuming that you think Jesus was just a mere man nothing more nothing less. I also assume that you think he wasn't raised from the dead so your speaking in terms of a man who tried to spread the Gospel and then died. While all of the next generations are just using this poor mans words and turning it into something we worship. Honey you have to dig deeper. Jesus was God. John 1:3 says 'In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God. The same thing was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made. Even satan has to ask for permission to perform evil acts. Such as when he asked permission to test Job.

No matter what is written in the Bible (which is no more than an historical account written by flawed and biased men), we cannot know what was in the mind and heart of this man. The teachings of many have become the basis for much of what we have today -- religion, politics, economics, science, medicine...the list is endless. I cannot see that Jesus would be unhappy that his teachings have been taken as seriously as they have been. What I can imagine is that he would be unhappy to see how they have been twisted and manipulated to serve the personal agenda of some.

I think Jesus is unhappy with religion...but, more unhappy at how skewed the truth has gotten for some religions, for example, Mormons, Jehovah's witness, etc. People have made THEIR religion out of the truth, picking and choosing what they wish to believe as truth. It's sad...we're not supposed to ADD or TAKE AWAY from the Holy Bible.

How do you know he never wanted it to become a religion? I agree that he never wanted it to be a Bondage of Religion but I KNOW he wanted his teachings to go on (because he said Go forth and make Disciples of all Nations) and he wanted this to be in the form of Discipleship (see the last set of brackets) so I think he expected it to be a RELIGION. Now if it is totally Man made religion then stay away from it but if your religion is to do the will of God/Christ then I say he is VERY HAPPY.

Which would mean that his followers would gather together and worship God together as a united spiritual family. If that is what you mean by religion then the answer to your question is yes, he would want it to become a religion. Read Hebrews 10:25

Many who have asked this question usually note that it's very interesting that while plenty of people wrote about the teachings of Jesus, Jesus himself wrote nothing. As it's through the written word that ideas become permanent fixtures, some do assume that perhaps he didn't intend for his teachings to become at the very least as "structured" as they have.

I think Jesus knew then, that is why He made comments: many will call me by name, but I will say I never knew you, He warned of false prophets, He said we would be persecuted in His name. I think He knows exactly what is going on. Does it please Him? Definitely not. I dont believe His teachings are necessarily a religion either. Man makes the religion, one can chose to follow Christ without religion.

Umm.. well from what I have been told, religion is man-made. Being a Christian means having a relationship... so technically its not religion. Besides, all he wanted was for people to understand his teachings. So if that is being done, why would he be upset?

I think he would be unhappy about the things religion has done, the wars and murders carried out in his name, and the way many "Christians" claim to follow his teachings, but do not.

Jesus says.

Mat 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

This is why people should read the Bible before they open their mouths.

So quick to believe what is not true because it makes it easier. Please educate yourself. And I say this to insult, for your benefit.
