Could be that you slept on it wrong, but it could also be stress and tension. Get a massage if you can. If there's a school where they teach massage near you, that's the place to go because it'll be cheaper than seeing a massage therapist. Just be sure to tell them about the pain you're having so they know what to look for. If you can't get a massage, the best over-the-counter medication for pain like that is Aleve. You may also want to try alternating between ice and a heating pad to loosen those muscles up. Good luck!

go see a LMT (liscenced massage therapist) RIGHT NOW! IT might seem expensive, but trust me it's worth every penny. You can usually just do a hlaf hour session for less $ to where they just do you back, shoulders, and neck. If you sit at a computer all day this is a common problem. I'm sorry, feel better!

Go to the doctor you could have several medical complications that he would be able to take care of. If you dont want to go to the doctor or feel it is necessary. Try getting someone to give u a massage and relax your muscles.

Try taking an anti-inflamatory like Motrin. That may help if it is a spasm.
