I see some speaker specs listed as 2-way passive and then others listed as Coaxial 2-way Passive. anyone able to tell me the difference?

Co-axial means sharing the same axis.

In co-axial cable, for instance, there is an inner conductor and surrounding it, separated by an insulating layer, is woven a braided screening conductor. So both of them have a common axis.

A co-axial loudspeaker has 2 or more drivers mounted concentrically. That is, the much smaller treble unit (the "tweeter") is mounted in the centre and in front of the main driver.

To finish your question, "passive" means that the speaker is not self-powered. It must have a separate power source (receiver, power amp) to work. An "active" speaker is one which has a built in amp so it doesn't require a separate power amp.
