B.U.N. means blood urea nitrogen and it is done to evaluate kidney function by measuring the the amount of urea nitrogen in the blood.

The normal values are 7 to 20 mg/dl (miligrams per deciliter) with the optimum adult reading being 16 mg/dl. Please note that some labs may have their own normal values.
