That isn't just Christian behavior. That's faith to a lot of different religions.

What dictionary did you get that from? I can't find the word "truthiness" in any I have (and it's underlined in red by my spell checker).
But to indulge you, my answer is: close but not exactly. The way you described "truthiness" is probably closest to (but not quite there) the Christian idea of promptings of the Holy Spirit. While those promptings can help to build a person's faith, they aren't the same thing as faith.
Out of curiosity, what do you think of gut instincts? Do you think they are a reliable source?

Christians should understand faith as it is defined in the Bible. The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It is a fool who has said in his heart there is no God. The beauty of the rainbow, gazing across the creation high upon a mountain top or looking in to the eyes of a smiling child...is truth enough for me.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. I think within every person God put the ability to know the truth of the matter and when we seek him we will find him if we seek him with all our hearts.
Those who live based on theories soon have to grab for more because theory is not fact and is normally proven wrong. And man's thoughts are not God's thoughts so man's knowledge is pretty inaccurate most times.
You are right in your statement.

It's similar but much deeper than that... you have to experience it to understand it... that's why it's called FAITH
