Wondering why they are so popular? Couple of different reasons...

1. There's a lot of them. So if you go to car shows or racing events, you're likely to see them there. Used ones are cheap. And having a lot of cars to build parts for means that aftermarket companies are more likely to tool up parts for them.

2. They're relatively fast as they are, but as Ford did not tune the motor for all out performance, it's also easy to make them faster.

3. The '87-'92 5.0 models were way overbuilt. They had such features as forged pistons and a fairly tough drivetrain that could take abuse.

Some people like them for their unmistakable looks. Others like their reasonable performance. I think they are hideous and one of the only vehicles Ford makes that even remotely keeps them in business.

They are realitvely cheap. They are fast, and easy and cheap to mod.
