It's okay to get a cat that you kind of like; but it seems like you're looking for a special connection. If you're choosing from a litter, take the time to observe each one, the way they behave. Then pick one up and see how they respond to you. With my first cat, she wasn't my first choice, but I was considering her along with another kitten who was stealing my heart. Then I picked her up and she threw a fit. It really excited me because I knew then that she had the kind of feisty spirit I was looking for. Good luck!

Make sure you are aware of some of the problems that might arise by getting a second cat. They are not formidable and they need to be addressed.

I did cat adotions at shelters for ten years. It was amazing how cats and people would connect. Cats that I thought were terrific would not appeal to certain adopters. I saw many cats that made themselves absolutely irresistible to potential adopters.

If you are attracted to a cat and the cat is reponsive to you definitely share your home with it!

Never settle for anything less than what you want...exspecially something that your going to be living with for the next 12+ years and depends on you for survival.

I thinking adopting a cat should be a mutual thing...between you and the perspective cat of course. If you pick a cat and it..well "picks you" then you've succeeded.

I agree, make sure you will love it for it's lifetime before you take on responsibility for its wellbeing.
