ok i have this friends(i mean it to) and it really is kind of funny. i tell her to call me but most times she wont call. and when she does call she always seems to be worried she called at a bad time. its really funny cause she talks to you in person and online ok. but she wont call her friends. if you call her its fine and she will talk. when we ask her why she jokes around and says she has phoneaphobia. so my question is: is there such a thing? and how can we help her ?lol

I don't think she really has a phobia about phones. I think she is just a little shy.

There really is a phobia to just about everything, including phones.

Phobias are "funny" things, most can't be explained. Nervousness, avoiding it, It does sound like your friend is suffering from some sort of phobia. Before you go trying to be a super hero and saving her from the evil phone monster, ask her if she feels she wants/needs help. (some people(like me) don't want to make a big deal about it, but want people aware of it for future references) Maybe you could just make her life easier by not calling her and not having her call you. If she is more comfortable chatting online, you should respect her wishes. I have an extreme fear of sharks, i've tried to get rid of it, but it hasn't worked, and it makes me feel better knowing that my friends have my back, if we go to a video store, they walk in front of me and hide the shark movies. Yes, it does seem funny, but it makes me a lot more comfortabe. You should just try and make her feel normal, don't make it a big deal, it's just part of life.

I've got a friend like that, some people just don't like the phone, talking in person, online is easier, so for my friend she doesn't want to spend the money to call anyone.

Some people just really don't like using the phone. However, some people are going to think she's lazy or a bad friend, so she should reconsider this "phoneaphobia".

It might be possible that this is a phobia. I guess I would, if this was a friend of mine, just keep reassuring her that it's okay to call you and her other friends.

There's a phobia for everything these days.. so yeah she probably does.. I'm not sure if phoneaphobia is the actual scientific term for it but i'm sure she probably does have a fear of phones.

It is not a phobia at all, some people do not find themselves comfortable to express them face to face, &feel free to tell every thing in writing. that might be the reason. If you want one to be frank enough ,you have to win one's faith.

maybe she just doesn't like to tak on the phone because she feels she has notin to tak bout. thats kind of how i am i have a cingular cellphone and most of my minutes go to rollover. if there is notin to tak bout it sucks cuz u stay silent on the phone nd it's embarrasing. i understand her completely nd it's not phobia.

no such thing, maybe she doesn't like the phone. nothing wrong with that. sometimes you have to pee and can't do it while someone is yacking away on the phone.

I call it a HOMEBODY
that pretty much the way I am
I like my friends and treat them like V.I.P.'s
when they call or I see them
but rarley ever call someone
Don't take this personally.
that's just the way they are.
