God says exactly what he means. Whosoever believeth in me shall not perish but have everlasting life means just what it says. You need to understand spiritually. The body may indeed perish but the soul will not. The bible also says there is a natural body and there is a spiritual body. Death is certain and unless you leave this world in the rapture you are sure to die at some point in time but if you are a born again christian then you will not perish. Your soul will live eternally with God.
1 Corinthians 15:44
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
God Bless You.

do you perish at night when you go to sleep or will you wake up sometime soon like in the morning? Death is a sleep as it states in the bible and those that have accepted Jesus will wake to His voice at the time He comes back to get His people. People have not perished yet, they will wake to live again. That is also a promise that was made and you can quote that one too if you want. See John 14:1-3. Jesus will come again to take His people back to Heaven.

"Here is the great gospel benefit: That whosoever believes in Christ shall not perish. This he had said before, and here repeats it. It is the unspeakable happiness of all true believers, for which they are eternally indebted to Christ, (1.) That they are saved from the miseries of hell, delivered from going down to the pit; they shall not perish. God has taken away their sin, they shall not die; a pardon is purchased, and so the attainder is reversed. (2.) They are entitled to the joys of heaven: they shall have everlasting life. The convicted traitor is not only pardoned, but preferred, and made a favourite, and treated as one whom the King of kings delights to honour. Out of prison he comes to reign, Ecc_4:14. If believers, then children; and, if children, then heirs."
Being the author of life, Jesus obviously knew that humans suffer physical death, even himself. He was speaking of spiritual death, which is spending eternity in Hell.

If you really want to understand the New Testament, you have to understand the context of the writers. That's true of almost any writing.
But even in context, much of it is contradictory.

I think you already know what it means. If you don't believe it though you'll have problems having your everlasting life.

Yes, humans do die now. But in exercising faith in Jesus and Jehovah, we will gain everlasting life. Eventually we will.

you have no understanding...maybe one day you will have the scales lifted from your eyes so you may see the truth and the truth may set you free from the deception you walk in.....we can explain it to you till we are blue in the face you just wont get it because you choose not to receive it.....you are more interested in seeing the lie than the truth.....when you are truly ready we will be around
