I am a gay man and I eventually want to be in a LTR with another man. I met a great guy on line about a month ago and we have spent time together, talked on the phone and have been having a great time.....He is over being in a relationship and is only looking for friends. I really like him alot. He is smart, funny, and very cute....On the other hand I understand that the best and solid relationships can sometime come from friendships...that takes time. How can I balance my romantic feelings and the understanding of the development of frienship.

All you can really do is wait. Its only been a month and even though you guys seem to be great for each other he isn't really ready. These things take time. The only way you can balance your romantic feelings and understanding working on your friendship should be the fact that when your friend is ready to move on you guys will have a wonderful relationship. Take this time to get to know him better and see how compatible you really are. You just met each other a month ago, so i'm sure there's still a lot of getting to know each other you gotta do. Just look at it this way, if this guy is really worth it, stick around to see what happens and if he starts developing the same feelings you have for him. If things don't work out, you'll still have an understanding friend..

I'm not sure if I'm getting this right, but it sounds like you were in a relationship with him, and now he wants to be friends. A tip: don't be friends with someone that you might end up dating. That's how my sister met all of her boyfriends and it never worked out cleanly.

Continue being friends, keep it on a platonic even playing field, and if his feelings change, he'll let you know. Love is hard to let go of, just be supportive and a great friend and see where it leads from there.

you can do two things.. you can either wait for him by being his friend hoping his feelins change.. or you can stay his friend but look for another for romance. i had the same situation.. i really like this guy and we were friends for a long time.. but he only saw me as is girl friend.. not girlfriend.. so i just moved on, only to find out later that he liked me.. we're still together ^^ (hope that helps)

You could always start of as friends and who knows, maybe it grows to something beautiful. If not, you'll have a great new friend.

If you really like him them tell him. If he just want to be friends then you can tell him that you can wait and also be friends. But i thinks it would be better if you tell him
