The best gifts are gifts from the heart, Find something that reminds you of her, or something she has wanted for some time. A great gift will show deep thought not necessarily a deep pocketbook.

I have a thirty-five year old sister who's b-day is in about three weeks. I consider my sister one of my closets friend if not the closets. And every so often I like to do special things for her because she has been there for me.
If your sister has been there for you and you consider her a close friend; then I would probably spend a day together. For example have brunch go shopping or go away for the weekend, or simply buy her something that you she really likes.
If you and your sister are not that close then you need to think of a gift that will be poliet because you dont want to go extravagent when you hardly even talk to her...or like her.
My advice is treat her the way you would want to be treated on your b-day.
