the catachism, will the catholic church care if my husband is methodist? my husband is encouraging me, but i dont want it to hurt us spiriually in our marriage. he would continue preaching in methodist church.

i am interested because sometimes i feel christainity has strayed to far from its origin and i feel like they take things like marriage and communion etc more seriously

Speak to a local Catholic priest about taking RCIA (Rite of Catholic Initiation) classes. Yes, it takes about a year.

And no, your husband will NOT be pressured into joining with you.
Nor will you be refused by the Church if he wishes to remain a Methodist.

Good luck......and perhaps prematurely, but...WELCOME HOME!

The Methodist church was formed by some Christians in the Church of England. The church had become almost non-Christian in its behavior, so these guys formed a "holy club". They went about doing "Christian" things that the church had stopped doing. Incidentally the church of England "came out" of the Catholic church. What makes you think that going to a Catholic church will take you back to your origins? Do you want to return to traditional church ceremony? You already have that in the Methodist church. Or, do you want to return to the root of Christianity? If it is Christ you are looking for-then look into the more radical so-called 'protestant churches that sprang up during the reformation. They "ALL" left the Catholic church for reasons. Most of which had not been addressed by the church yet.
If you are interested -email me. I can at least point you in a good direction.

I don't see why you have to go through a rite of some kind to devote yourself to a religion. You can go to Catholic Church without the whole catechism thing.

Also, whether you go to a different church or not, you will always hold your own beliefs, so if they have not "hurt [you] spiritually in your marriage" so far, then you shouldn't worry about it just because you go to a different church.

I invite you first to read from Ephesians 5:22-33 about how wives and husbands are to relate to each other and to Christ. Please do this from a King James and not from the Catholic bible

You may go to http://www.blueletterbible.org to do this if you do not have a King James

Then I invite you to look over my website. It is primarily for the not-yet-belever but you might find something that could give you thought for how you should truly relate to our Creator... on a much more personal and one-on-one basis

http://www.mikesoutreach.com

it is not a fancy site... Just me talk'n about the God stuff.

All honest seekers welcome
