My hubby thinks it's okay to eat venison rare but I don't think that it is okay. What do you think?

Don't Overcook

Do NOT overcook. Deer meat has a tendency to become less tender very quickly if overcooked or cooked at too high a temperature. How long to cook venison depends on the animal's age. Oven temperature for roasts is about 350 degrees F and cook to an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. Use a meat thermometer, if possible, to judge the doneness of game roast. It's best to roast game to a minimum internal temperature of 160ºF to destroy parasites that might be present. Plan to serve venison medium to well-done, never rare or over-done.

Cook Like Low Grade Beef

Cook the same as low grade beef. The tender cuts like loin chops can be broiled or roasted. Steaks and chops retain more juice if the cuts are thick (1-1 1/4"). Round deer steaks are best when cooked by moist heat - stewing, braising, Swiss steak style or pot roasting. Use the less tender cuts for stew and grinding meat.

We have eaten deer meat my whole life and never ate it rare. I believe that it has a chance just like any meat to have bacteria especially since it usually comes straight off the animal to the table.
It's a risk you take with any rare meat though.

There is always a risk of eating any red meat rare. I can understand how you feel. But some people eat rare meat and don't get sick. Others get sick. It's a risk you have to take. It depends on how your husband feels. If he likes it, then it might be hard to convince him otherwise.

Cook it thoroughly, but don't overcook. Keep in mind that deer aren't quite as guarded from internal parasites as domestic food animals are.

How do you expect 1/4 of the world at least to respect your idea or perceptive when you say 'satanic religion'? At least, the Muslims are taught to slaughter the animals in more merciful way. Dont believe me, look at the documentary movies about companies and how they deal with animals. Anyways, people are not going to stop eating meat, so go over it. Best,
