I have 2 pekingese, and I live in the HOT sunny south. Is there a popular trim out there that would keep them cool without taking away from their distinct look?

Any good groomer will do right by the dog...my suggestion is to have all of the body shaved with a #7, #5 or a #4 blade...7 is the shortest, 4 is the longest...for hot weather, 5 or 7...have the dog shaved just behind the head (not touching the head except to shape)...and leave the tail.
Remember, a dog can get sunburned also...no matter the cut (unless it is a 4 blade), do not leave the dog outside where it can get sunburned.

I just got my peke groom, the groomer took an 11/2 off and also they shave his tummy area they say that it will make them stay alittle cooler. I got him groomed at Petco. You can go into any pet salon and asked them what is the best thing to do for a peke. Peke have really thick coat so I suggested you get them groom or if you don't want to you should keep them indoor with ac on.

no but the one that will make them look the cutest is the puppy cut. it will be nice to your dogs.In the summer you have to be nice and cut there hair.No one will care and your dogs willl be better of.But if you want to keep there hair long be prepared for a heat stroke.

BELIEVE ME!!! SEEN PLENTY!! lol
BUT...some folks don't mind.If you feel you absolutely MUST...try a "lion" look.
