Do not use any kind that contains ammonia. Most permanent hair colors contain this. Most semi-permanent contain little or no ammonia so these will be safe.

The reason they usually say that is because the color does not take the same as it would when you are not pregnant. It can also damage your hair more.. I know plenty of hair stylist who worked with color throughout their pregnancy and they had normal healthy babies.

I have 4 children and I never colored my hair while pregnant. I know that my doctor said not to and all the books I read recommended not to also. I am not sure if it is the strong fumes but I just listened.

It might be better to not have a harsh chemical type.
Check the different brands before you do.
Still need to look your best, so try something
different you just might like it.

it will tell you on the bottle if its dangerous for pregnant woman. if you're still unsure, you should give your doctor a call.
