making a double batch of chocolate chip cookies, the dough has a bitter/salty taste - too much baking soda... how do I save the batter? Can I add additional ingredients to offset the baking soda bitter taste?

Before you add more ingredients try baking a few cookies to see if they are beyond repair. How much baking soda did you add? Sometimes it's better to leave it than try to fix it- if youstart adding more ingredients and stir them in you will ruin the texture of the cookies. The best bet would be adding something to cover up the flavor (cocoa powder maybe), and don't mix too much or your cookies will be super tough.

Too Much Baking Soda

You can make more batter without soda and mix it in. I think that's about all you could do.

I meant, make another batch of dough and combine the 2 sets of completed dough. Otherwise the texture will not be right. You could add oatmeal, that might cover the taste.

It really depends on how much more you put in. If you don't know the amount, its risky to start adding more things in because too much flour will cause the cookies to not spread and too much butter will cause them to spread too much. If its only double or less, try adding an extra amount of the ingredients (if it calls for one cup, add another, 1 stick of butter, add another) However, I may think you are better off starting over.. :(

I love raw cookie dough. Especially eaten straight out of the package.
