Ok... The people here trying to answer you question are all wrong!
You want to go to the Ultimate New Years Eve party... the only place to go is to Giant Village. It's a street party that happens in the streets of Downtown LA they usaully have somthing like 4-5 Live Music stages/tents set up and a couple of ferris wheels. So visit www.GiantClub.com for info.

I live in LA so trust me! You have to go to Hollywood i go there once a week for my contract and while there you can go to the Kodak theatre to shop or The El Capitan to see a movie with a cool after party. There's also Disneyland, Knotts, and Ranging Waters. There's Six Flags but i think it might be closed by the time you come down.

Either go to Giant Village in Downtown especially if you want live music or Colorado Blvd in Pasadena is a fun experience and you can stay up all night and watch the rose parade in the morning.

That was funny of Mr. Loony Toonz to suggest Compton or Watts, but seriously - don't do it. You want to steer entirely clear of South Central!
