I took my son's bottle away 15 years ago, and he still acts crazy, so I think you're on to something.

This is a joke, right? You would never take away a child's food as punishment would you? Except maybe for throwing his bottle...

The trust built between a mom and child is vital for helping teach the child how to behave. You never need to nor should you ever hit a child to punish them. Hitting has been studied for years and we know it lowers the iq, it makes children afraid, it teaches them to HIDE not change their behavior, it causes resentment between parents and child, and it doesn't work.

How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk is a great bok about how to lovingly guide your child. Again, there is no good age to start hitting a child.

I have two sons, 13.5 and 9. They've never been hit. They are charming, polite, hard-working, kind, and gentle. I know never hitting them has been a huge part of helping them acheive such great personalities.

Depends on what the kid is doing wrong. I'm not saying that a potch in the behind isn't good for the kid, but for different infractions, a spank may not work. And it doesn't work for every kid either. If you give me a little more information about how old the kid is and what the kid is doing wrong, then maybe I can give an idea of how to try to handle it.

No child should ever be old enough to be hit. Never. When I was younger I got hit as a punishment and it just made me even more mad and it made me lash out.
