To those of you who defend the ACLU, I really wish you were right. It would be great to have such an organization doing what you say they are doing. You are, however, dilusionary. They have an agenda and it is NOT JUSTICE.

they are clearly not interested in justice! They went to court to defend two homosexual men who , took a young 12 or 13 yr old boy, killed him ,then raped his cadaver! and the men said they learned all this in the so called nambla, an hoorendous group .predators that are out in full force to assault and exploit young boys , mostly minorities ! They have also gone to court to affirm the right of teen girls to have abortions without the consent of their parents , the ones who support and educate the girls!! Yes! I belive they are trying to change America to Amerika! Thia answer ,my sweet ,comes from an advocate for the Independence of Puertorico!

The ACLU has a long record of supporting States rights over the Federal Neocon agenda. That is fact, the record speaks for itself.
The ACLU has taken many Constitutional Issues before the US Supreme Court, read the findings by that court. Only a neocon would hate the ACLU, they are the ones with the most to fear from the ACLU. The ACLU unlike many Republicans supports the oath in practice that all Republicans take "the protect and defend the Constitution".

The world is a far different place than when the ACLU was founded back in 1917. I don't think the ACLU has been able to adapt to the dramatic changes that we've seen in such a short amount of time.

Although founded by a man who once supported communism, the ACLU publicly banned any communist members.

Because the ACLU defends the rights of all Americans by defending unpopular uses of these rights. For instance, no one objects when the Boy Scouts want to have a parade, but people go nuts when the nazi's want to have a parade. If the ACLU didn't defend the the nazi's right to free assembly, that would open the door to other organizations loosing their right to free assembly. Most people will defend the rights of causes they believe in, but would love to limits the rights of groups they oppose. The ACLU defends these unpopular rights to make sure you don't loose yours

Like it or not, the Constitution provides these rights to all Americans, NOT just to the christian right wing. If our Constitution irritates you, perhaps you should move to some Muslim country where they are more than happy to jail & kill people who disagree with their religious beliefs, or maybe you can find a nice little communist country where they do the same to people who dare to disagree with the government. As for me, I like it here in America where we have troops AND the ACLU fighting everyday to protect our rights. America (and the rights she provides), Love it or LEAVE it!

The ACLU is around to protect or most basic freedoms afforded to us through the Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights. The are about an individual's rights, whether it be free speech, seperation of state and church, etc. Sometimes it seems as if they are taking on a socialist agenda, especially to conservatives who themselves want to suppress individual rights. I personally don't belive in burning the American flag, but I sacrificed many years in the military so anyone has the right to voice the opinion in any way the see fit, as long as it is legal. Putting limitations on individual rights would be censorship, and that would communism, don't you think? Our country was built on freedoms, like the one you have to express your opinion in this forum. Can you imagine if a knock came at your door tonight and the web police came in and arrested you for what you said here? Luckily, we have the ACLU to protect your right to do so. If you feel that they are wrong then I would use your power to vote and change things....

The ACLU is very much into justice for all American citizens. Case-in-point, their lawyers have defended those in the KKK many times as well as civil rights leaders. Whenever there is a violation of your civil rights, they will protect you. I think that this proves that they are not just a bunch of liberals looking to change the constitution.

Collectively, they are motivated by money, like so many other top-heavy organizations, for profit and non-profit alike. And like so many organizations (the US government for example) there are no doubt lower echelon volunteers and employees in the ACLU who are there because of their ideals and morality. Those will of course remain lower echelon as long as they keep their mouths shut about what the higher echelons are really doing, otherwise they will be black-listed and drummed out. Again, just like the US government.

The ACLU is interested in protecting people's constitutional rights as outlined in the constitution. Since lawmakers, employers and other authoritarians continue to erode our rights as individuals.

Bush and his freedom taking, privacy invading supporters are the biggest threat, not the ACLU.

If it wasn't for the ACLU we'd wouldn't be able to fight for our freedoms from the Fuhrer George Bushler.

ACLU sucks donkey balls. totally worthless and totally wrong. never support any group of a*ssholes that would willing defend rapists and murderers and try to pin the blame on the victims, just so they can get those guys off the hook.
