Yes! They do have menstural cycles but only twice a year and they last about 3 weeks. During this time is when they can get pregnant. For dogs it is usually referred to as being in heat. This is the ONLY time they can get pregnant. When in heat they usaully try to get out so they are with other dogs. So you should keep a close eye on your dog when she is in heat or you could have unplanned puppies.

I will pray for you and your family. God bless. If it helps, I have a friend that was in the same situation. She gave birth over 3 months early. The doctors told them to make a decision on whether or not to try and save her. She was a little over a pound when she was born. She just had her first birthday and doing really well. She is the tiniest thing but so cute! Keep your chin up and just remember that it will be hard for all of you, especially Anya, but there is a good chance she will be okay.

Hi !
www.peteducation.com
Thought this site would help with your question... it answered all of my own. :)
Have a 6 year old Lab... Molly. She is my 1st dog-ghter, lol. Bred her twice and it was an interesting experience.
Hope you enjoy your little bundle of joy.
Please if she is in heat then keep her in, take her to the vet. ( Of course, eh?)
Oh and a side note - for when she does get to be in heat and the bleeding starts.. male underwear. Yeah, tail through hole an pad inside. My dog looked quite silly but it protected our carpet and when she grew tired of it, I took it off an she was kept in the kitchen. !!!Do not leave her alone with this on!!! Please, supervise at all times if she doesn't want or isn't willing then just kennel or keep her in a room that is suitable.
Hope this answer was helpful and not too much.

Good Day. ;)

Always,
Mrs. Haymaker

Yes they do. they come into heat every 6 months or so. what we girls go through every month they go through for 6 weeks every 6 months. They go through a period where they are in heat but don't want a male to get close to them. about week two or three they allow the male to come near them and breed. But if no male is present she will bleed in about 2 weeks. It is not a constant blook flow or anything. if inside you will see very tiny drops of blood that look like they have been sprayed.

Yes. Dogs are living things and if they did not get their period how would they reproduce. Different dog get it at different times. just like humans. So it is hard to tell when they will get it.

yes, they do, they bleed and everything! it comes like twice a year though but lasts a whole month. when that happens, she's in heat. don't let her out so easily cuz she'll want to do stuff.
