God does not exist. It happened, no magic hand made it happen, and no magic hand could have prevented it. S..t happens.

Some people will tell you that God has a plan for everyone, and that it was just time for those people to die. Some will even claim that Satan causes horrible things to happen. I do not understand how one could blame God for such an event but still claim that is a loving and peaceful God, or how one could could blame the devil for something without also blaming God for not stopping it.

I guess it has to do with free will. I don't think that something as Almighty as God would really care to interfere in the measly lives of mortals. Why would God have a purpose for such a thing? And if he did, who are we to guess what it is?

I would have to say that there is a God and he does watch over us and care about us. I personally believe that there is life after this life. So, we will see our loved ones again. I tend to think that things happen for a reason. Maybe that sad and horrible thing had to happen for something greater to occur. I just know that someday, we will us them again and they are waiting for the day that everyone in the family can be together again. I'm sorry that happened though. I would be really really sad if that happened it me. But do tell this man to feel positive. Be happy and smile!

The honest answer would be, as a mere human, I don't know.

God is a mystery. His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. A teacher said one time, God "allows" (He does not cause) bad things to happen in order that a greater good will come of it

The example given was the crucifixion of Christ. In and of itself the crucifixion of Jesus was a horrible event. Seen the Passion of the Christ? But an enormously greater good came of it later. Our salvation.

The loss of our loved ones never appears to have purpose. We all have a time to live and a time to die. It is how we handle the time between that is a measure of our spiritual growth. Perhaps it was just their time.

"Why do bad things happen to good people?" How many times will the same question get reworded?
