I couldn't say. His drink-driving last week was a poor publicity stunt if it was!
Still, he *was*good in Braveheart...

Mr. Gibson's Hollywood career is road kill. There are many non-Jewish actors and executives that find racism and sexism (he called a female police officer "sugar ****" that night) diustasteful. Jews do not own Hollywood. e.g. there is not one major media company, at the present time, that has a Jew as its head. Mr. Gibson's father is an antisemite and a holocaust denier. Mr. Gibson has been an antisemite for years. He only made it unambiguous this past weekend. He is toast despite his many millions because people abhor racists, and find them hard to support or do business with. Being drunk does not turn most people into rabid racists. It was already there in Mr. Gibson. Alcohol loosened his tongue and confirmed that he is ugly.

Mel Gibson has nothing to worry about as far as his career is concerned - he owns his own movie studio, and has transitioned from a lot of in-front-of-the-camera acting to a lot of behind-the-camera producing. Not to mention that he owns a lot of international distribution rights for films he's already made.

As long as there are hungry actors, Gibson can make as many movies as his likes and ship them overseas, if no place else.

On the other hand, he has greatly embarassed some of his current partners (Disney and ABC) whose recent announcements speak volumes in their silence on the issue. They've sunk too much money into a movie and a TV project with him to back out now, but it seems to me that they clearly wish they could.

What Gibson has really done to himself is prevent any reputable actor or company from wanting to work with him. Who wants Gibson's reputation for anti-Semitic wackiness to overshadow their project? Only people with nothing to lose. Anyone who can afford to say no probably will.

If he is, he picked a pretty bad way to get publicity.

Driving over 80mph while under the influence of alcohol, then uttering anti-Semitic slurs to the cops after they stop him -- I can think of other ways to get publicity that don't involve breaking the law, endangering people's lives, and inviting accusations that one is a bigot.

No way...I am positive he didn't want this. There was nothing clever about it...very inflammatory...and it does not leave us with a good impression of him. I think he has a few "issues" to work out...best done in private.

I don't think it's very clever to do anything that could get you jail time. Granted given his celebrity status he'll probably just get community service.

they all have their "damage control" people to handle these situations... this definitely isn't the type of publicity he wants...this kind of publicity gets you snubbed in Hollywood as well as with the fans...he needs to leave the booze alone...lol..

He definitely isn't clever, opened his mouth and inserted his foot or should I say both feet and both hands and arms.
