just the basic like you know : food , puppy poop pads, but try to get the puppy used to going outside b/c i used those things and he got used to going in that spot , even after he started going outside he would still want to go in that spot every now in then. ( after i stop putting the mat there.. then get the shots, an sock will work for a a chew toy , i also used the small benny babby toys they were really the only thing i could find small enough for my small chihuahua, , but that it my sleeps in my bed too.

Collar and/or harness
Leash
Tags
Microchip (your vet can do this for you)
Dog crate
High quality dog food (you are what you eat!) like NOT a kind you can get from a grocery store but from an actual pet store
Toys (every dog is different in what kind of toys they like)
At least one Kong of the appropriate size
Proper vet care and vaccinations
You can use your own plates and bowls for food/water dishes--that's not important, and I've always used old sheets and comforters for dog beds since my dogs always end up ripping them up anyway. I've used tube socks tied in knots as tug toys. The most important things are a high quality dog food, proper veterinary care, good training (which can be done at home instead of a class IF you are really dedicated to doing research and putting time aside every day for training) and good, mentally stimulating toys.

Um, dog food, dog nail clippers, doggy shampoo, a collar with license. Don't forget all the vaccines and the cost of a neuter or spay. A leash, a few toys, and that's about it. I mean, its a stinking dog, they aren't that much like children. Its not like you have to dress them or get them ready for school. You need to feed them, care for them, and make sure they have all their vaccines, that's it. If you live in a ridiculously cold climate and are one of those people that isn't horrified by putting a sweater on your dog, then buy one of those as well.
Just be sure that the first thing you do is get the Vet check ups and vaccines otherwise she may not live to play with all the other stuff you buy her. Besides, your vet should have a good idea as to what tiny dogs need and can help you with your doggy-shopping list.

$500 is a lot of money to spend on a dog. Her it some puppy pads to use the bathroom on. A dog bed and some blankets because chihuahuas are cold natured dogs and a few chew toys. The best thing you can give it is love and attention.

Is she a puppy? Your gonna need food, a leesh, a dog license, collar, a bowl, a bed, etc. You can actually made a chew out of old sock, so you don't have to buy one.
If you are a limited budget, what are you going to do if the dog gets sick and has to go to the vet?

If you just want basics then get a food and a water bowl, collar, leash, a toy or two and food. That's really all you need. Later on you can splurge on a bed or whatever else catches your eye. =)
