Nope. America was a melting pot in the beginning with all the immigrants and is known as the "land of opportunity" America was the immigrants home. It still is today. America wouldn't be America without them because of the culture they bring with them and the ritual's they practice.

If you think about it, American culture is a mix of everything. Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and other ones that people celebrate. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated by most. It goes to show that we celebrate some holidays that didn't even come from America!

So to answer your question, no. We are a country of immigrants with culture all around and we will probably continue to be in the years to come.

Absolutely not!! Immigrants are what America is all about! I have a friend from El Salvador who has suffered so much to be in the US - she works several jobs and is still poor because she's sending money to her family back home. Her 14-year-old daughter is doing well in school here and winning all sorts of academic awards. I think her daughter has the potential to be a doctor or a scientist. Maybe someday my friend's daughter will save people's lives because she had the opportunity to live and study in the US. That's what America is all about. Opportunity for everyone to be all that they can be no matter their race, religion or creed. My family has been in the U.S. since the 1700's (we're real WASPs) and many people in my family have worked hard to keep America a place of opportunity for anyone who wants to have a better life no matter where they are from.

In my opinion, no. This country was built on immigrant. We relied on immigrant labor during the Industrial Revolution, which helped this country to become the superpower it is today. This country has a history of being a haven for immigrants (or at least supposed to be), where people from all over the world can come and make a better life for themselves. If we cut that off, we lose that distinction.

Um, America is made up of ONLY immigrants. If all the immigrants left, there would only be Native Americans (Indians) here. If you're referring to ILLEGAL immigrants, they are breaking our laws. Congress needs to decide how many to make guest workers and how many to send home, but we should stop them from coming in.

Nope. Immigrants is what makes america what it is. The european settlers were the very first border jumpers. They didn't have visas, passports, or permission to enter the country. Therefore we cannot close the borders and expect the rest of the world to treat us with respect.

Most of us would not be here with out immigrants, BUT they everyone needs to come here legally (ESPECIALLY NOW!). With the threat of terrorism and our already large population we need to have a better handle on the amount of people that come to our country. I would like to see the limit raised for those people that are highly educated. Why not raise the IQ of the US?

I think the US could do very well with the resources they have, instead of bringing more people in. Quite frankly, the idea that diversity and multiculturalism are a boon is a crock. The only thing that is created by a merging of many different languages and cultures is confusion.
