...and all the hate and venom in these questions and answers. I think I've OD'd on all this negativism. Can anyone give me an encouraging word that will lift my spirits?

Tyler D: Hey, your answer actually made me laugh. Thanks. No, I'm not homosexual, but I get the feeling that you were hoping I was.

Thank, Plus. Don't you ever get depressed with the news? I know you are as far to the left as I am to the right, but, hell, isn't enough enough sometimes?

This effing heat is going to end.
Here, I got this today:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Letter to Redneck Son
Dearest Son
I'm writing this slow because I know you can't read fast.
We don't live where we did when you left home.
Your dad read in the newspaper that most accidents happen within 20 miles of your home, so we moved.
I won't be able to send you the address because the last
Gander family that lived here took the house numbers
when they moved so they wouldn't have to change their address.
This place is really nice.
It even has a washing machine.
I'm not sure about it.
I put a load of clothes in and pulled the chain.
We haven't seen them since.
The weather isn't bad here. It only rained twice last week; the first time for three days and the second time for four days.
Auntie Maude has sent you a pair of socks she knit,
she put a third one in because she heard you have grown
another foot since she last saw you.
About that coat you wanted me to send; your Uncle Billy said it would be too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets.
Jimmy locked his keys in the car yesterday.
We were really worried because it took him two hours
to get me and your father out.
Your sister had a baby this morning, but I haven't found out what it is yet, so I don't know if you are an aunt or uncle. The baby looks just like your brother.
Uncle Bobby fell into a whiskey vat last week.
Some men tried to pull him out but he fought them off and drowned. We had him cremated, he burned for three days.
Three of your friends went off a bridge in a pickup truck.
Butch was driving. He rolled down the window and swam to safety. Your other two friends were in the back.
They drowned because they couldn't get
the tailgate down.
There isn't much more news at this time.
Nothing much out of the normal has happened.
Your Favorite Aunt,
Mom
--------------------------------------------------
Actually, I'm not as far left as you think I am. According to the people on this site, I should be an atheist (which I am not), retarded (far from) and a socialist. I'm really not a liberal or a conservative.
Yes, the news is quite depressing. But what's more depressing is not keeping up on what's going on. The state of the world is pretty bad right now. But I'd rather be knowledgeable than ignore it. Some people care more about Suri Cruise than a baby just killed in Haifa or Tyre.

Cooler weather is right behind the rain - just wait until tomorrow. Your yard and garden will be very happy! Wars - you can't do anything about them (unless you want to head over there), so be happy they're not bombing you. Mel Gibson - who cares? Everyone is an idiot at some point in their life. It was just his turn. A lot of people say what he said - he's just getting press for it because he's famous.
Most of the world is a great, wonderful, happy place. People go to work and come home. The sun rises and sets. Your family loves you. Smile --- if you pretend to be happier it will usually make you happy!
Have a GREAT day!!

I'm a veteran. You know, I have felt sorry for myself many times and I find when I go to the VA hospital and see how others are coping with their lives, it's impossible to feel that bad. So very many people are dealing with much worse than what is on the tube or whether it's raining outside or not. You find out things aren't nearly as bad as you thought.

Well, Christians are saying the "End Time is near" then there's going to be some 1000 years of peace. How nice for all those innocent people dying who wont live to see it ... but we still have a chance! (That's about the extent of my optimism.)

i have heard that doing something for nothing can be rewarding .
STOP in an old folks home and cheer them up with a sing along .
CUT your nieghbors grass while he is at work . Then see how long it takes him to ask you if you know who did it .DO it again the next week and leave a note saying thank you for allowing me to cut your grass please do the same for one of your nieghbors .
this will drive him nuts and you can enjoy lots of fun for weeks and get some much needed exercise .

well, what i do to make myself happy in this insane world, is i build boats. not real boats. more like rafts with 55 gallon barrels.
I just lost a friend of mine over the weekend in a car accident. so im building a raft in his honor.
i dont know if this helps you, but its therapuetic...it makes me happy. You wont be able to fix anything singlehandedly. all you can do is something positive to put your abilities towards something.
i dont know if this helps!

You can rest assured that it can only get worse.
Go watch some episodes of Cops or Jerry Springer and you will feel uplifted.

Are you in the US? Does someone love you? Do you love someone? Get into some mellow music and let it lift you beyond this human miasma.
