It is a distinct possibility, especially as it is planned already in the Pentagon for quite some time. Had North Korea not managed to get her own nuclear weapons and missiles in time, it is likely that the USA would have already invaded and occupied North Korea, under the pretext of "liberation", but with the real purpose of using the country as springboard for an attack on China.
So for the time being things are on ice in the Far East, and the US military has more than enough on their hands in the Middle East. But with the USA fast declining in every way except military power, and China rising even faster in every way, including her military capacities, a confrontation on the long run is likely. The trigger event will most likely be a confrontation over Taiwan. And the outcome? Well, unless the USA obliterates China completely with nuclear weapons (which would in return mean a destruction of at least 40-50% of the USA) there is no way that the USA can win a war against China. At present the USA are incapable to rule and control a relatively small country like Iraq with only a mere 21.5 million inhabitants. China has currently a population of 1.35 billion, not counting the millions of Chinese living abroad in almost every country. If the USA ever decide to go to war with China, it will be the end of the USA.

War with China is unlikely. We're too deep in business together. If it happens, we will have Japan on our side.

Nope.....we're business partners like the first poster said. Not to say that they would like to take a pot shot at us if given the chance.

If it should come to that, they have the manpower, but we have the technology ;)
