When my dog had an allergic reaction, I called the vet. She told me to give my dog half a benedryl. The amount depends on the weight of the dog. It worked great and saved me the cost of a visit. So I recommend just calling and asking about trying that out.

I had the same problem...I have four dogs, so, I think I have gone through a lot with them...and, who knows how many more issues will arise. My VET told me to clean his "infected" area with a cold cloth (bathing him too many times in short period of time can be bad for the dog's skin--it will dry it.) and put some NEOSPORIN cream. If that does not work for about a week, do take him to the vet Like everyone is suggesting. Good luck! Let us know how it goes...

sweetie, my parents had a puppy that had this happen and found out the dog had alergies not only to the flea collar but to common elements at the home. they were given two choices, sedate the dog and put him to sleep or put him onto steroids that would stop the alergies. well, my parents put him onto steroids. he takes one each morning when my mom gets up to get ready for work and it has helped, the bad part is, he is twice the size that he should be. the steroids have caused him to gain a lot of weight. talk to your parents or guardians and see about finding a good vet that doesn't cost much. some pet stores and pet shelters can give you good names for referals.
sorry that I could not be of more help to you.

Don't worry, he won't die from a flea collar. It's good that you took it off and gave him a bath. If it's still worrying you, call the vet and ask him or set up an appt. He's really the only one qualified to look at your puppy and make a diagnosis. Good luck!

First off, CONTACT YOUR PARENTS. Secondly, find the vets number, let them know whats going on. If your parents can't take the dog to the vet, ask the vet over the phone for what to do's. I have cats, and when they have problems i get out the childrens benydryl. But unsure of proper dosage for a dog. But.. get off the computer and call your parents and the vet.

I would calm down and call your parents first to see if they could take the dog to the vet. Then I would call your vet to set up an appointment. The biggest thing to do is to RELAX! The dog will survive from an allergic reaction!

Do you have anything for itching in your house? Itch power or cream? Check out the medicine cabinet, most thing we can use, dogs can use. Don't give him any pills until he has seen the vet. He will be itchy but fine. Try to keep him from scratching, if you can.
