I think any accent is interesting. My husband has a southern accent that I find extremely sexy but which he denies he has because he can't hear it. He says I have a Canadian accent that he loves that I deny having because it is not audible to me. Both of us are proud of our heritage and our "accents".

It feels good but then again a lot of accents are lovely. Although there are so many different variations of the English accent. I like southern accents but the northern English accents are annoying! To the Person who thought a liverpudlian accent is cute...No it is not!It is most annoying accent try listening to footballer Steven Gerrad.

Most of the countries where will be British accent were ruled by British and they spread educationally & verbaly their accent in those countries. Thats the way british accent came to these countries. America has lot of nationalities ..so it couldn't have it's own culture or citizen or even own accent too.

Imagine taking a cross-country auto trip with a heavily accented Brit or a heavily accented German.
I'd take the Brit. I'd probably mock (her/his) accent and cause a freeze-up of conversation even though I can do a fairly good 'cahn't' and d'en't.
But German accent? Tough to hear for days on end.

I'm Canadian, but I'm thinking it's the same as with any comment someone could make. If a good-looking woman tells a straight guy that anything about him is sexy, he's going to appreciate it. If a professional acquaintance tells him anything about him is "cute", he's likely to feel belittled. "Smart" or "sophisticated" are pretty safe bets coming from anyone. (Except obviously for the person above who gets hit on every time she opens her mouth.)

I guess in Singapore our English accent is supposed to be more British then American.
I don't think you'd love my accent too much, but if you do...it's always nice to get a compliment, so that's fine.
And oh...sorry whatlaa...I like northern British and Scottish accents too....so I think Steven Gerrard's accent is also nice :)

I get sick of it after a while. Going to a supermarket, eating out, going to the theatre, etcetera grows into a bothersome task when I am always stopped by some stranger (who knows nothing of England and whose claim-to-fame is that a cousin visited Ireland once) feels the need to tell me how great my voice sounds.

I think the British accent is neat but if it's coming from a man he sounds like a sissy boy and not so manly. I don't care if he is ten foot tall and bullet proof when he speaks he sounds like a sissy, but I like to hear it if a women speaks it....

It's more a feeling that you've stepped into some parallel universe. Women going weak at the knees when when you're asking for a bus ticket is a deeply surreal experience.
