It is amazing how African Americans can be so fervent for Christianity and so against Islam, when more than likely Islam is the religion of our forefathers.

How true can the American version of Christianity be if it was put upon us by a hateful , meanspirited group of slave owners who viewed us as less than human (or at least 3/5 of a human being, as stated in the Declaration of Independence)???.

And looking at this board, it seems that the hatefulness hasn't changed in 400 years. The only thing that has changed is the number of blacks who have "Stockholm Syndrome"...

American blacks should heed the call of Islam, and return to your natural religion...

It's actually pretty amusing that most of the people saying let it go,etc. are people who appear to be white! Easy for you to say. Iguess the people who should be answering the question are at work, because although no one alive today participated in slavery, you do reap the benefits.

My own personal opinion is that it is folly to embrace ANYTHING that is introduced by an opressor, and damned sure will not pass it on to my offspring.

And BTW, this is not anger, it is fact...

If you are from African decent, you should know that the African were NOT originally Islamic. Before the Arabs invaded African nations, the Africans were pagan. They were spiritual but they were neither Islam nor Christian. To say that Islam is the true religion of blacks is not very accurate. Just as European whites took Africans to American and converted them to Christianity, the Arabs invaded Africa and forced them to become Islamic. It has even been written that the ones sold into slavery by the Africans were the ones that would not accept Islam.

Those who invaded the country have put both Islam and Christianity upon the Africans.

Islam is not natural to blacks anymore than Christianity, which is older, and which was actually upon the African continent earlier than Islam.

BTW, the ridiculous and hypocritical counting of blacks as 3/5's of a person is in the Constitution, not the Declaration of Independence.

If you mean by a religion that is "natural" to blacks, one that blacks practiced in Africa before Christianity, and later, Islam were brought to Africa, then you would have to delve into quite a few separate and different types of indigenous religions.

But of couse, your mind is made up that there is something "naturally black" about Islam, so there you are. What you mean really is that Islam is not specifically European, whose people you hate.

OK, smutulator has by FAR the best answer, but I will add that Islam is not a religion of your "afrikan" forefathers but Islam is a religion of Arab nations and Arab people.
Read your history, not all of the founders of this nation owned slaves and many who did valued the slaves they did have. George Washington never bought a slave, he inherited them and when he did he gave them all full freedom. While he was alive though it is well documented that they were considered slaves they lived as free men and women. Also if you will read your history, many slaves loved their masters and cared for them well after receiving their freedom. You need a history lesson.
May I also add that you rquestion is obviously full of resentment over something. Islam is a religion of intolerance and hate while true Christianity is a religion of faith and compasion. Do not disregard all of Christianity because of the poor witness of a few. To do so is to prejudge and places you as no better than those you condemn as predjudiced.

Thanks to the work of Malcolm X in the 50's & 60's, many have. And yes, I have seen some ignorant racists (redundant term) but I also see a wide number of views here. Many of them are obviously intended to be incendiary. But who is more racist than the fear mongering Nation of Islam? The religion that talks about the white devil?

I've said this before and it deserves repeating. Islam is a violent reaction by a violent pedophile to the issues Arabs faced 1400 years ago. It was conceived as a way to return judgment on its enemies and millions have bought into that because it glorifies hate, anger and violence.

Christianity offers peace and love. Those who claim to be Christian have not always represented that well, hence the beginning of the AME church and others. But that doesn't change the message of Christ who wants us to love all and reward us with eternity in Heaven. Unlike the Muslim who is taught to fear, hate, despise and possibly kill the Christian, the Christian is taught to love and care for the Muslim regardless of the way he is treated. People are not perfect, but God is flawless. So to me the choice is simple - Christ and love or Allah and hate?

Ok..... WHAT???

Just because someone hates me I dont hate them. I am to love everyone. My forefather religion I don't think it was Islam. With Adam and Eve it was just worshiping, talking, praising with God. Being with him in the Garden of Eden. I am baptist. If a religion hates and group of people that don't sound like a good religion. Also black had some slaves too and even caught slave for money and guns. But you want me to hate the whites and not the blacks.

That sounds stupid.
Love is the key not Hate.
Let Love one another.

But.... look at the history. Islam is not an african religion. It is an arab religion spread to part of Africa by the sword. Animism was a much more common religion native to Africa. Why show that you reject one oppressor by embracing the religion of another?
I am not Christian, nor am I Muslem, but at least Christianity lets you worship in your own language these days. Islam is tied to the arab world and uses arabic. Neither is African. Nor are the Arabs pro-black. They are quite contemptuous of Black Africans and we can see their attitude in places like Darfur where those of Arab decent are set up over the Black Africans who they exploit and, at the moment, wage racial and relgious genocide against.
Do not reject the history of Christianity by embracing the religion of an invading oppressor. If you must adopt a religion to take the place of Christianity then go for a native African religion, not one imposed violently upon a part of Africa.

Islam was "put on" Africans by meanspirited (often slave-taking) invaders from the Arabian peninsula so exactly what is the difference? If you wanted to practice authentic African religion you'd be practicing Yoruba or Anango. Voodoo basically.

If you are saying that black people should turn to a religion that teaches people to kill someone if you cannot get them to join your religion, I think you are misguided. Why are you still using slavery as a backdrop for hatred. It was a black man who sold the slaves in the first place. Get over it. No one person alive today was a part of the slave trade. So blame it on something else, like chicken pocks or bad breath.

All men should have the freedom to choose their path, regardless of their race or lineage. Why do you cling to something that happened 400 years ago (I'm not being a prick, I am just asking) instead of focusing on the contribution you could make to society today? Yes I agree that slavery was, and continues to be one of the greatest evils of man (regardless of what God thinks) but did you know that Muslims are allowed to have slaves as well? So tell me, why convert to a religion that supports a concept you are so vehemently against? If that is the path you choose to walk, I am happy for you, but faith without examination is not really faith, but rather conviction.

OK... where should I begin?
Let's start at the very top. You ask "Which is more stupid?" but after reading everything else, one finds that your not even asking a question. You're merely perpetuating hate. Nice try.

Now.. the first paragraph: You think it's amazing how "African Americans" can be for Christianity and not Islam. Well, since you called them Americans don't they have the right of freedom of religion? Therefore they can choose whatever religion they want. Also, Millions of what you call "African Americans" have never even BEEN to Africa. So how can they be African-Americans? Why is it that people like you try so hard to seperate yourselves with labels just so you can complain about how there is a seperation of races? Aren't you perpetuating that seperation with such labels?
Also, the bible talks about slavery, and there is no mention of Jesus condemning it. You can even beat your slave to death: Exodus 21:20-21 "And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money [property]."
Leviticus 25:44-46: "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly." (NIV)
It's also in the new testament.
Matthew 18:25: "But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made."
Obey your master like you would the lord: Ephesians 6:5-9: "Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him."
There are many more passages from the bible that talk about slavery. You implied that Christianity is bigoted. Well even the bible talks about slavery. Something else you seem to know very little about, or have taken the time to investigate.

Paragraph two: You claim that Christianity was "put upon us" by a "hateful, meanspirited group of slave owners." Well I would first say contact your local law enforcement, since slavery was abolished over a hundered years ago. If you were enslaved you have legal rights. Read the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
I have also read the Declaration of Independence and can find no refernce to any mention of ANY person being 3/5 of a human being. (I also did a search: Search words I used: 3, three, *****, black, human) So obviously your information is wrong about that. If your information is wrong about that, what else might you be wrong about?

Paragraph three: You say that the hatred hasn't changed in 400 years. I will agree to some point on this. It does appear that racism is still with us, and I fear it always will be. But isn't it people like you who try and seperate yourselves from the rest of society that is perpetuating the hate? YOU have never been a slave. I know noone who was ever a slave owner. But I know plenty of people (of many races) that continue to perpetuate the hate by trying to seperate themselves.
You also imply that any black that doesn't hate white man has "Stockholm Syndrome." This is impossible. In order to have Stockholm syndrome, one must have been held captive, since not every black man has been held captive, they can't all have the syndrome. You think maybe it's possible that these blacks that you say have Stockholme syndrome, have just matured to the point where they realize that arguing about slaver is stupid?

Last line: This, I believe, to be the whole point of your rambling. You are trying to recruit more people to your hateful religion. Islam does not preach peace. Islam says to kill anyone who doesn't convert. So you obviously want to kill a lot of people.
Again, as Americans (and free people) don't they have the right to choose what religion they want to follow? Aren't you just becoming another "hateful, meanspirited group" by forcing people to convert to Islam? It appears to me that you are doing the same thing that you accuse the slave owners of doing. This makes you no different. You are merely another slave owner trying to enslave others to follow your way of thinking. You have enslaved yourself and are trying to enslave others.

I wish you could see the folly of your ideals. One last thing. If you are so concerned, and you think that you should follow you "natural religion" perhaps you should go all the way and move your racist *** back to Africa or some other country of your "natural religion."
