You should never attend any type of party without a gift, so yes, you should bring something, even if it's small. A bottle of bubbly or nice wine would be just fine. : )

You do gift the couple a nice 'feel good' something for an engagement, but don't go over board as you may have to give something better on the actual wedding day.it could be either a nice decorative figurine,a special box of chocolats,a set of art prints,a good bottle of wine with a couple of long-stemmed wine glasses,or even a set of good books,if ur friend is into music, the a tasteful c.d.ect. though make sure its a 'couple gift' and not solely personal to person who is ur friend .

No. Gifts are not expected in an engagement party. You just show up and share with the couple.
A card will suffice. Good luck

No, you don't have to give a gift, but it is a party and you should NEVER show up at a party or dinner empty handed.

At the very least take a hostess gift of good wine or chocolates, and flowers are always always always appropriate.

We weren't expecting any, but we appreciated the few we got. We got our toasting flutes for the wedding, our guest book for the wedding, two picture frames, a humorous wedding book, a really nice coffee maker, and a bottle of champagne. Cards are fine, too. Don't spend too much time worrying about it - just enjoy the celebration with the happy couple!

You can, but you don't have to. We didn't expect any and received a few...mostly bottles of champagne, which is really nice.

If I was invited to an engagement party, I'd show up with something, for sure. Probably champagne too.
