Because the ACLU defends the rights of all Americans by defending unpopular uses of these rights. For instance, no one objects when the Boy Scouts want to have a parade, but people go nuts when the nazi's want to have a parade. If the ACLU didn't defend the the nazi's right to free assembly, that would open the door to other organizations loosing their right to free assembly. Most people will defend the rights of causes they believe in, but would love to limits the rights of groups they oppose. The ACLU defends these unpopular rights to make sure you don't loose yours

SgntSnafu: You are wrong. The ACLU is not interested in justice. They are interested in furthering social change by using legal decisions to set precidents for legal interpretations where they were never intended. This wide-open interpretation of law weakens the law and, consequently, our morals. The legal system protects my rights just fine. We don't want those legal system rejects at the ACLU to turn America into Amerika.

Because they can't see that the ACLU fight for all of us and our rights. I don't always agree with what they do but I try to understand what issue they are fighting for. A trail verdict may seem very obvious but when and if you change the outcome that may have terrible consequences for all of us.

They take up cases for the worst scum in America, they are eroding the values which this country was built on. They were founded by a communist.

they have gone too far and are destorying our country.
I mean yes back when they just wanted people to be treaded fairly they did some good. Now days all they do more harm then good for our country.
