UFOs, like anything else, competes against authoritarian religions. I have noticed that among born again Christians, the entire dismissal of the so-called UFO phenomenon is due strictly to the belief that UFOs and aliens (real, imagined, or otherwise) deny the existence of reality as put forth in the Bible, and distract the oh-so-gullible human mind from the "realitiy of God." So, at least by some aspects of Born Again Christian logic, it is reasonable to discredit UFOs and such, becuase those who allegedly encounter UFOs or have aliens inserting cold things into their bodily openings at least shows the possibility that things are not as they seem, and that a collection of 66 books written over 2000 years ago may not be as relevant as adherants to those books may want them to be.

Since many aspects of the UFO phenomenon also touch on spiritual and religious matters, it is in the best interests of certain religious zealots to disprove as much of that as possible as these different spiritual and religious matters are in direct competition with the "accepted" religious way of seeing things.

Oh, and zombies are real...we just call them religious fundamentalists these days.

You know, you could turn it around on them too? They say that you just got to have faith when you ask them how you know God is real. Well, when they say there are no UFO's, zombies, The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, Aliens and what ever else, just tell them you just got to have faith.

You don't believe in aliens or God? So humanity is the only sentient race in the entire universe. That is a severely limited viewpoint. I believe in God, aliens, and UFOs. I also believe there was (emphasis on WAS) a Saint Nicholas.

I believe in UFO's , but in a different context than most people . Any object that can't be immediately is a UFO . Matthew 12:36-37

Hey! I do not believe that I am nuts!

Well, not usually...

There are lots of man made myths. Global warming, intelligent liberals, and conservative conspiracies come to mind. But God is a rather persistent 'myth'. Ever wonder why?

It just depends on what you think UFOs are. I believe UFOs are demonic apparitions to decieve us into accepting demons as coming from other planets.. UFOs violate the natural laws of our planet, and really can not be natural, hence supernatural or spiritual beings. I also believe that some of it is Govt. experiments.

Yeah, it definitely is. Your question reminds me of a quote by a Christian who is now an atheist:

"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?"

I find it kind of egotistical. They believe an omnipotent being created everything, but they don't believe it created any life besides them. Considering how much in space that is not known and unexplored it seems kind of egotistical to assume there is no other intelligent life out there.

Yes, it's all boll*cks.
The tiny aubergine shaped purple pixie people told me that actually, God is just a race of ET's that want our resources and created us as slaves for their bidding, hundreds of thousands of years ago. I didn't believe them though, 'cos the floating cyclopian triangle told me they were lying to confuse me in order to further their attempts at world domination...damn...I think I took the wrong pill again...
