It's is a sin to use God's name as a curse but it isn't a sin to relate Him somehow to a structure that was built to block the flow of a river.

In God's eyes, a sin is a sin, and there is no bigger sins or smaller sins.

Furthermore, if you are talking about a dam as in the water dam, (which wouldn't really make sense) then that would be "okay".

Also, in the Ten Commandments, it says that we should not use the Lord's name in vain.

All that said, using God's name to associate with a water dam wouldn't sound bad, but it is technically breaking God's word. So, yes it is a sin to say that.

The second commandment is "Thou shalt not take the LORD's name in vain." So yes, it is a sin, but remember God doesn't reckon sin and "wrong" the same way we do. In His eyes, a little white lie is just as bad as murder because any sin, no matter how big or small, separates us from Him. That's why Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross -- His blood paid the price to forgive all the sins of everyone in the world; past, present, and future. Christians aren't perfect, but those who truly follow Christ and truly repent of their sins are forgiven.

taking Gods name in Vain is a sin. But saying God dammit is nto taking his name in vain. Those are just words and are pretty much meaningless,, your not hurting the Almighty GOD by saying a string of cusswords. Im sure he doesnt think its sucha great thing.
In the bible taking GODS name in vain is saying GOD lead you to do something and he didn't. Like if you went out and killed everyone in your town and Said I do this in the name of GOD! Thats taking Gods name in vain.

Yes it is taking the Lord's name in vain.. The Jews were so afraid that they would not say God or Jehova. They didn't accidently want to offend God..What you are really saying is that you want God to curse whatever you are talking about.. Not a good idea..

There is no such thing as sin. It is a fantasy designed to make you think that God is judging you.

Telling God what to do in such an impolite manner cannot be helping your relationship with Him (or Her).

In this case, you are telling, not asking, God to send someone or something to hell.

With love in Christ.

for those of you referring to the 2nd commandment.....here...i did the "research" and thinking for you....

taking the lord's name in vain.....saying that you are or are not a believer/follower in order to "look good" to those you keep company with....it's like saying you believe (when you really don't) because you don't want your friends/family to judge you or think less of you...or vice versa...
