no its not normal, it is a sign of a virus or maybe an allergic reaction to something he ate. if it is a virus there isnt a medicine for it you just have to let it run its course which can be up to 2 weeks. as long as he isnt having any blood in his stools and they are not black or mucousy he should be okay. if they are though, it may be a sign of a bacterial infection in which case he would need an antibiotic. the best thing to do is put him on the BRAT diet, Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. and give him yogurt with active cultures. Yogurt is very good for upset tummies, it will reduce inflamation in his intestines and help restore good bacterias in his body. avoid citrus to prevent diaper rash. if the BRAT diet and yogurt do not work within a week, i would take him to a doctor. also make sure he is drinking a LOT of fluids because diarhea can easily dehydrate him, and if he looks like he is losing weight then obviously take him to the doctor asap. hope this helps.

My daughter just went through a bout of it, some think it is due to teething. (She is 2, but late in getting her teeth.) She also showed no other symptoms. I also read it could be too much fruit juice (if you use it). I would say if it continues for another day or so, call the doctor. Make sure your child is drinking, many kids get dehydrated with diarrhea.

my one year old often got diarrhea if she was getting more juice through the day or if she was getting teeth. The best thing to do is get yourself some pedialite to enshure yourself that your baby dont dehydrate. If they seem to be getting really weak or sleepy all of the time it is a good idea to bring them to the doctor. If the diarrhea looks kinda foamy you should go to the doctor because your baby could have a common virus called rotovirus wich is contagious. Its most common from newborn until the age of 2

Wow that is weird my 34 month daughter just got over a stomach virus that last a couple of days, but when you was around 15 months she started to get diarrhea and had it straight for a whole month. They think it is caused by the Rotavirus or sometimes it just dietary changes you must make the child. I had just stopped breastfeeding at the time and put her on whole milk, but when right through, so I limited the whole milk and gave no juice and started her on soy milks...she loves them to this day.
Good Luck :-)

If your child still has it tomorrow, I would take him/her to the doctor. He could get way too dehydrated and that's dangerous. As for 2 months of diarrhea??? Either she's exaggerating, or her son had a serious problem. Yikes.

Get pedialite and push lots of fluid diarrhea can cause dehydration if it doesn't stop after a day of nothing but pedialite go see a doctor.
No apple juce it cause softened stools but lots of applesauce and other starchy foods will stop it

My son gets diarrhea everytime he starts teething. It isn't really severe, but soft enough to count. When he stops teething, the diarrhea goes away. This happened with my other son as well.

Usually children have diarrhea for long periods of time if they are sick or eat too much of a certain food that causes diarrhea.Possibly your child might have chronic diarrhea, and to be sure you might want to take him/her to a doctor.Good luck!

Sounds like there may be something else going on. Could be an allergy to a food or a stomack virus. If it were my child, I would call the pediatrician just to make sure.
