Drunk or Sober he should be able to say whatever he feels. People have different opinions about the history of the middle east. Americans are fed alot of propaganda. What bothers me is if you disagree with Jews you are called an anti-sem. Alot of people don't realize that Jews used terrorism also "Kingdom of David Hotel Bombing". Israel also sunk a US Navy ship "The USS Liberty". I

first, mell gibson is a public figure, he chose to be one when he became an actor. what ever he does will be looked at in public eyes, like it or not.
second, just because he said it when he was drunk does not make it any more excusable. it wasnt that he is not anti-semetic, the alcohol did not cause him to be that way. The rumors of his beliefs were always out there, it was just confirmed from the record. he was just more loose with his tongue and said things he already had in his head.
third, 'in trouble' is a rather vague issue since he is up for being hired as an actor by the industry. if one becomes unpopular in the public forum because of personal beliefs such as anti semitism, then that is the way it goes. how do you take something back that you have spewed out of your mouth and becomes this public?
he screwed up. only the future will determine if he 'gets in trouble' for what he said. my opinion is he should be held accountable for what he said.

He's not in trouble for what he said. He's not being arrested, censored, fined, or otherwise troubled for what he said. He has the freedom to say whatever dumb crap comes to mind, drunk or sober. But with that freedom comes responsibility and consequences. The responsibility to stand by what you say (he blew a .12 - that's really not very drunk) and the consequences of having to deal with what other people think of what you say.

If he wasn't a celeb, he'd only have to deal with a few people's reactions. Since he is rich and famous, he has to deal with a lot more people knowing about it and having an opinion. That's the way it works. If you want the fame, you have to take both sides of it.

Since he is a big celebrity, he is constantly in the public eye. For that reason, anything he does will be examined to the ninth degree. Most public figures will uphold a moderation of responsibility because they realize that they are observed by the community. When one falls from grace, the fall is magnified all the more. When you decide to become a celebrity, I think you should do your best to lead by your actions. If you don't, it's too easy to fall into decadence and debauchery.

You know, everybody makes mistakes. We have a done stupid things that we regret terribly in hindsight. Mel is no different. Drunk or not, he made a HUGE mistake and seems t be genuinely remoreful for it. Let it go and learn to forgive. judgement, unforgiveness, and bitterness towards others only leads to your own destruction

One problem with our world today is that we have lost the concept of forgiveness and we love to kick people when they are down. Sad

Mel Gibson is a public figure. He should conduct himself in a respectable manner. He should not be making hateful, harmful comments about any group of people. These were not political statements, he was simply spewing hate.

In trouble? I don't think he should be in trouble with the law. He is in trouble with his own name. That's all. Basically, what he stated in a state of inebriation just backed up what he had said on previous occasions without the excuse of being drunk. Now we know what he thinks about the topic. He cooked his own stew. I don't see him as a threat to Jews. Just a personna-nongrata. Now the Iranian President?! He is a threat to Jews!

Because he is someone who is well-known and unfortunately, I feel that someone who is well-known is someone who also is looked up to. I don't think he should be in deep trouble over it, but if a normal, average person said something like that, I am sure it would stem an investigation. The police, in my opinion, are just doing their job in proving that a celebrity has the same rules to follow.

he is not in trouble for making anti-semetic remarks. its a free country, he can say what he wants. he's just receiving alot of criticism because he's supposed to be this very spiritual person and he's caught making hateful remarks about one's religion. but he's not in trouble for that. he's in trouble for driving under the influence which last time i saw was against the law

Publicity, do-gooders, drunk, tall poppy, you know how it goes. He made a mistake and yes he should be accountable. But he has said his apologies and I believe genuinely sorry for remarks. But people being what they are, he's in for a very hard time til he bleeds and is destroyed by some measure that devastates his life. You Just Watch.
