It is a hyperbole, its like saying my feet are killing me!!!
Altough they are not capable of doing so.
It is just used as an extreme comparison that if you have problems in your life, first fix your own mistakes before trying to point out someone elses minisule wrongdoing...

Its called a metaphor, and the former is a splinter, not a speck...

Its saying that you shouldnt point out others flaws, when your own flaws are so tremendously obvious.....

Unfortunately, this is yet another "life lesson" that 99.99% of beleivers choose to ignore. Its much easier to point out other peoples flaws and to believerthat youre the only one on the path to righteousness. Too bad its all a freakin scam anyways...

I can tell you what it means because I was a hypocrite before the
Lord removed the Log out of my eye.
" The spec from your brothers eye" is any sin that you yourself
find other people doing and you think they are worse than you are.
[I don't smoke,I don't chew,I don't go with the girls that do] You have
a hypocrites mind set always judging other people worse than yourself

"The LOG in your own eye" means that you are one of two ways.
(1)You are Religious (lost) and think that you are Gods gift to
Christianity(a lot of church members are this way) I was that way
before I was Born of God.I was a lost church member.

(2 ) Born of God church members can let satin trap them in this mind
set. They are saved but have lost all the JOY of their salvation. They
have forgotten where they came from a sinner saved by grace.
In Christ in Love,

Better question: with a log in your eye how can you remove a spec from your brother's eye? Wouldn't you; be in pain, unable to see, unable to zero in on the spec?

(I figure you know it's a metaphor!)

Maybe it's a metaphor?

Maybe the message is "Take care of your own house before you take care of your brother's house?"

I believe the expression could also mean that you have bigger problems to look after than those of your brother....

The "log" reference is for "obvious" problems.....

ok anybody who studied English a little will understand that a figure of speech is being used...

it's a metaphor since a big speck IS MADE TO LOOK LIKE a log. But we need to be broadminded ALOT in english to understand wat lies in the grey.

Sounds to me, JESUS knows what He's talking about.
Matthew 7;3, And why beholdest thou the mote that is in
thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine
own eye.
I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!

This is a metaphor, don't try to correct someone for a small sin when you have giant sins in your own life, first clean up your own life then you can try to help someone else clean up theirs.
