Both should be about equally strong. It saves a lot of trust issues that have to be asked if one person is a lot bigger than the other - regardless of their respective genders. I know I don't really feel comfortable having an intimate relationship with anyone who outweighs me by more than 20 pounds (10 kg or so).
On the other hand, however, I am very well aware that my very large size (about 6'1"/175# or 185/80) makes it all but impossible in most cases to be sure whether a man respects me because he knows what will happen if he doesn't, or because he just respects me for who I am.
Which in a way is good, because I'm less likely to be abused, but in another sense it is very sad indeed. I am well aware of the responsibility my size places on me, and I am aware that I must learn to control my temper better than I presently do - precisely because I know I can do a lot of damage even without a weapon.
I want my husband (if I ever get married) to feel safe under his own roof, and I know full well I cannot presently guarantee that. The best I can do for him at present is explain to him how he can know that an explosion is imminent, and how he should respond in order to ensure his own safety.
Again, I think the same sort of issues exist regardless of the respective genders of the parties, but that having been said, the consequences if the larger party is male and the smaller party is female can be much worse for the woman, particularly if we are talking about such things as the possibility of sexual assault.
Sexual assault perpetrated by a woman on a man is possible, and it can be physically painful or injurious to the man (I know someone who had it happen to him). However, the fact remains that it is possible for a man to do much more internal damage, not to mention cause a pregnancy which for the woman is unplanned and unwanted.
My take on that is that it is imperative for women in particular to learn how their bodies work so they can make real choices about what they will do with them (so they don't get seduced into a situation they can't easily get out of), as well as acquire the physical strength and skills necessary to at very least turn an assailant's strength against him/her and emerge from the situation as unscathed as possible.

Female. We were born strong and meant to be strong. How long you think man can walk around the mall with 9 bags of groceries, clothes and accesories while wearing stilettos? How hard you think man would scream if they're the one who's giving birth? Come on, females are special in so many ways. they're gentle and powerfull at the same time.

physically? whoever is, they shouldn't try to change eachother. I mean of course that's generally going to be the man, but it doesn't mean it has to be. I don't think that's important in a relationship at all.

I think a man should be strong enough to protect me but when he turns around and tries to put his hands on me I can't except being weaker than him. I make it a point to be able to defend myself if it were to happen.
