First of all, they "rule" for kids parties is invite as many kids as their age. Have 2 little friends over so she doesn't feel overwhelmed. No games- really, they don't even understand games yet- give them all a paper to color of what their theme will be. Then after they color, you can have your pizza or cookout to eat. Sing some songs, or have a mini puppet show. Do the cake and ice cream thing then presents- send them home with small favour bags. Simple.

My daughter is turnign 2 on Aug 4 - tomorrow. Rather than throw a huge party and go all out w/gifts, we are inviting 2 of her little friends and her sister. We are going to let them go to Build-A-Bear and make a bear. The bears will end up being about 25 ea, and we usually spend more on a party. We are limiting them to the bears that cost about $10, and to an outfit that cost no more than $12-15. But it will be the perfect time frame, give them an activity and a favor. We are going to have cake & ice cream at home afterwards or beforehand to sing Happy Birthday (we haven't decided yet). I do believe Build-a-bear has party packages.
Also, Mc Donald's & Chuck E. Cheese are good too.

Take her to a place that serves her favorite type of food. Throw a party there. You can buy party hats, gift bags, and other things in her favorite character.
Another idea is a Mommy and Me Birthday Party, where her friends and their moms come to the party and you can do something like, go to the Wiggles Concert or something then go out to eat and give gifts there.

To be honest I think any party you do at that age should be kept small, a couple of relations, maybe another child her age and leave it at that. If the weather's nice take some bubble mixture and some balls to the park and let the children run around. If it's raining let them do some painting or playdough. Don't have anything too structured, no games like pass the parcel for example, just a chance for the little ones to let off steam.

My daughter is also turning 2. We are just going to get together with my family at my parent's house. Just the normal - have dinner, birthday cake, presents. To make it a little special, I am probably going to get a cake decorated with Dora the Explorer, since it's a character she knows. Last year, for her 1st, I got her a Care Bears cake.

IF she is in child care, I would ask her teacher if you can bring a special treat in to celebrate her birthday. Also invite grandparents and family to a cookout or just something simple.
The concept of birthdays and all are not understood by a 1or 2 year old. You are safe with something simple until her 3rd birthday and up. Then you will have your hands full.
Good Luck!

You could do a "themed" party. Something like Dora or Blues Clues...something that interests your daughter. There is a great website called oriental trading that has all kinds of "party stuff". They are cheap and send out very quickly. Hope you and your daughter have a great time!

Alow her to color invitations and give them to her friends, invite some of yours and her friends over for a 2hr backyard party, have a cake just for her with her candle to blow out, and another for the others to share, sing happy birthday, lots of presents, noise makers, loot bags, music, ballons everywhere(kids love em), streamers, if you can afford a clown or even a bouncer, we can get bouncers here for 30$/day, kids love those, find or make a cheap pin-the-tail game, do a candy hunt, pop a balloon game, water and water balloon fight(depends on weather), let the kids go nuts for a day without rules, McD's has a nice party feature(pricey tho), take a few friends out to a restaurant.....lots of ideas, hope you like them. Good-luck and tell your baby Happy Birthday!!
