The cold weather would dry out the skin, making it tight and cause it to itch, once you start to sweat the itching should go away. Or just be sure to moisturize before any activity.

Blood vessels shrinking.

Somewhat derivative but woth noting:

This may sound counter-intuitive, but COLD SHOWERS are truly the best way to condition your system for running and other act's such as plain ol' daily living.

May be hard to start off, maybe u could start out w/ lukewarm or barely below body temp for lathering and pop to cold when rinsing and keep at it to the count of a hundred.

Try it, it'll make a believer out of you.

Hot showers / baths weaken the system in a powerful way.

Guaranteed.

Its because either your body isn't used to the conditions or your body is releasing too much histamine. Could also be the blood circulation. The blood is moving faster through your system and the friction could be irrtating the nerves in your skin causing it to itch. Take an anti-histamine about an hour before you exercise. Works for me.

It has something to do with the acid that is produced by your muscles during periods of heavy activity. It is perfectly normal and passes after the activity has stopped.
