Correct me if I'm wrong, but if "man shall not lie with another man" doesn't reference homosexuality, then what does it mean? Please enlighten this Christian woman.

Also, is being a homosexual a choice or do you think you are you born that way? (can't wait to see these answers)

Thank you to those who aren't trying to read around and justify homosexual acts. Sin is sin....period. I bid all of you God speed and hope that those of you who don't know Christ, find Him soon and get your lives in order. Thanks!

Homosexuality is a sin....and an abomination. It disgusts God and therefore, disgusts me. It is a choice, but demons may blind these people into believing they were "born" that way.

I'm an athiest, but I was raised Christian and I was told that some translations refer to it as "Man shall not lie with boy", which denouces pedophilia, not homosexuality. Interpreting an English translation of the Bible (or any book) can be risky, since translators have to take some liberties in order to make things make sense and work gramatically in the language to which they are translating. Thus, you can't have an English Bible that is completely true to the original, which is one of the reasons it's not a good idea to try to interperet any passage word for word.

Being homosexual is not a choice. I mean, think about it. Try as hard as you can, right now, to be attracted to the same gender, just for a moment. Do you think you can do it? I doubt it. Anyone who says homosexuality is not a choice and really believes it is probably at least a little bit bisexual, because they are implying that they could choose to be attracted to thier same gender and simply resist this on a daily basis. The point is, that if homosexuality were a choice I would be able to make that choice. And there is nothing I, or anyone else, could do to make me attracted to women. Thus, it can't be a choice.

Besides, even if it were a choice, it's none of your buisness who other people want to be with. There are couples which abuse each other, couples which go through drive-through weddings in Vegas and scumbags who marry for money and the biggest threat some people can think of to the sanctity of marraige is two men that love each other? If two people really care about each other, I could not care less whether they're the same gender or not.

It is referring to homosexuality. Those who say otherwise are either not interested in the truth.

As for whether or not some are born homosexual. What explanation is there for ex- homosexuals? These people have left the homosexual lifestyle. That would be impossible if they were born homosexual. There will be a lot of people who say that it is something they are born with, but that is just propaganda. There is nothing to back up their claims. Nearly every homosexual has a distorted relationship with one or both parents. They did not have good examples to follow. Don't believe me, ask them. You may not even have to do that, since many of them were hurt so bad that they talk about it often.

Even those who do not care about the bible should be able to see that homosexuality has a negative impact on our society. It's proponents seek to undermine the family by equating everything as marriage.

Lots of things are wrong... Lot's of good people do them anyway. I do not believe that God is a homophobe and I do not believe that Homosexuality is present from birth. I believe that it, like everything else is a choice and anyone who says differently...

Well that is just their right. I have nothing bad to say about it
per-sey, But I ask you... Isin't everything, every compulsion, every behavior we actually go ahead and act on a choice even if we are born with a compulsion or a tendency toward a habit or condition? Don't we still make the choice to drink or not even if we have a disease as some people believe? Even if we are born Gay, is it not a choice we make if we actually decided to have a same sex partner?

I am not saying that homosexuality is a disease or anything else good or bad. Im just saying that like these other things... It is a choice.

It seems odd that people claim that they were "born" homosexual. What does that actually mean? -- were they trying to have sex with people of the same gender at age two?

As far as I can tell, it makes no sense to say that a child, before he reaches puberty, is "straight" or "gay". Before puberty we are neither -- we are asexual.

I was not attracted to either sex before I hit puberty, and neither was anyone else. Saying that you were "born gay" is a non-starter as an argument.

When a boy hits puberty, he is usually attracted to anything that moves. Every boy has had occasional homosexual fantasies (we are all curious -- anyone who says differently is probably lying), but most boys put the thought out of their head almost as soon as it occurs and do not act on it -- because we do not want to become gay. Most heterosexuals assume that homosexual behavior is a habit caused by experimentation in one's youth. Once a behavior has become a habit (like smoking or drinking), then it probably is no longer a conscience choice at that point.

But it was a choice at some point far back in that person's life when he originally decided to experiment.

In the same book it says that eating pork is a sin. When was the last time you had a BLT sandwich? How about bacon and eggs?

And John ST, you are wrong. There is scientific evidence that proves that homosexuality is not a choice. Do you think that animals have a choice? Some are homosexual.

You are correct. This verse from Leviticus 18:22 does speak against homosexuality. As to whether homosexuality is attributed to something people are born with (as if it's a disease) or if it's a choice . . . Personally I have seen, through people that claim they are homosexuals, to be a bit of both. I believe that we, as humans, all have our own urges, addictions, and even sins that we must all confront. They vary between person to person just like our own likes & dislikes. Some people struggle with alcoholism . . . some with pornography . . . for others it's homosexuality. The problem comes in the manner that we approach these urges. Do we act on them? Do we address them? Do we try to rid ourselves of them like bad habits? That's where the choice comes in. People that are homosexual, are addicted to alcohol, drugs, . . . porno . . they have to first realize that something is wrong with these actions and then attempt to stay away from them. It doesn't help that, increasingly, our media is saying that there is nothing wrong with these things.

You are correct. That passage does reference homosexuality.

God would not tell you it is wrong to be homosexual and then make you that way. It is a sin, not a disease. It needs to be treated as sin, repented of (which includes turning away from) and overcome.

But, it is a sin, just as sex before marriage is a sin, not worse, not better. It is sin that can lead to death and people need to be loved with the love of Jesus so they can come to know the truth and the truth will set them free.

Yes, that refers to homosexuality activity.
I don't believe anyone is born with it. I believe that they come from dysfunctional homes and was neglected as children and handled it differently with a desire to have a fatherly love but it became a perverted disorder. Some of them were even brought up in a christian home but there was still some form of abuse and suicide is common in alot of homosexuals. Abuse tends to retard a person and if they are emotionally weak, this alot of times, can result in a disorder of some kind. Some people have become perverted from being exposed to pornographic images or may have even been sexually abused.
These results can show up in little children from the ages of 4 and up. No one can indicate a new born baby is going to be gay or lesbian when they grow up. So I believe it's not a choice nor are they born with it but it is a disorder from neglect or abuse.

That is a correct interpretation of the bible, and it also advocates genocide (Joshua 10:40-42 and I Samuel 15: 2, 3 and 8), slavery (Numbers 31: 17-18), killing kids who eat or drink too much (Deuteronomy 21: 18-21) and a whole host of practices that the entire world considers hideously wrong.

It also states that world has corners (Isaiah 11:12) and that it sets on pillars (I Samuel 2:8) beetles have four legs instead of six (Leviticus 11: 21-23) and that rabbits chew their cud (Deuteronomy 14:7). All of these have been totally proved false.

Keep mouthing off about about how the bible is "truth"

It does refer to homosexuality. And I believe that for the most part people are born homosexuals. I do think that on occasion some people decide that is the route that they will go and that is a God given choice.
