Did you know... In the foreword to his biography If I Were An Animal, Prince Philip wrote, "In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, in order to contribute something to solve overpopulation."?

Also not to leave out certain (and I really mean certain) members of the scientific community such as Dr. Eric R. Pianka whom spoke to the Texas Academy of Science "off record" in short advocated airborne ebola as his preferred method of exterminating the necessary 90% of humans.

Ebola... Do you know Ebola virus liqufys the internal orgains of people in possibly the most exscrutiating deaths imaginable?

My question? Do you think forced depopulation is "acceptable" or "exsplainable" for any problem?

I think you need to learn how to spell...:)

No, forced depopulation is not acceptable. Deliberate killing of any kind is not acceptable. Cultures and countries with higher levels of education, social services, and health services have fewer children -- those are the keys to solving overpopulation.

40,000 children starve to death everyday, our seas are dying from our waste, arable land is disappearing at 2% per year, finite resources (like oil) will soon run out and people have the stupidity to say the world has room for more people.

Drastic steps should have been taken back in the thirties to limit family size and stop religions from trying to out-breed each other. We are showing no signs that we are willing to do what is necessary to insure the survival of Humanity by limiting our need to breed. We may not get off this planet in time so that when the Earth finally dies under enormous human weight, there won't be anyone standing on the moon to write our epitaph. All our eggs are in this one basket. if we are going to be a successful species, we have no choice but to get a grip and put some feet on Mars.

Has anyone ever considered redistribution? I don't think the world as a whole is overpopulated. Check out google earth and look around, humans are only located densely in certain areas. Why the hell would someone want to release a virus that makes you die an excruciating death when there is no real problem? I agree that anyone who is that worried about overpopulation should kill themselves and be a martyr.

Well, it's gonna happen one way or another. I have my own awesome idea for depopulation. Here it is. Everyone has 1 mate period. Every couple has 1 child period. After a few hundred/thousand/tens of thousands of years...we are left with one person or 2 men, or 2 women or 1 couple who posess ALL of the combined geneology of the entire human race.

F*ckin' heavy right?

Name ideas:

Daryl if it's just one man
Darylina if it's just one woman.
Adam and Adam if it's two men.
Darylina and Darylina if it's two women.
If it ends up being more than 2 women, then name them all Steve or something like that. ;P

I am against the killing of innocent people who are already born. China has a mandatory birth control policy. I'm against that since I'm for freedom, but it's not as bad as killing people who are already born. The problem is, if nothing is done we could all face famine. It gets back to the question of whether it's ok to sacrifice some people to save the rest. Overpopulation is a much more complex problem though. Like global warming, the effects will be gradual to the point they might not be noticeable until it's too late.

NO! Never. First of all, who decides who lives and who dies and how do they decide. That alone leads to all sorts of moral/ethical questions. Can you say "genocide?" Secondly, overpopulation isn't a problem the world got into overnight, it's not a problem that can be fixed overnight. Everyone wants quick fixes to problems that took years or decades or centuries to develop. Life just doesn't work that way. Third, personally, I believe all life is valuable and killing off a portion of the population is reprehensible almost beyond belief for me.

I will really have to think on that one........ I don't know, I do know that we are 'Way' over populated and that Nature has been finding new ways to kill us off of the years. New sickness, new diseases, and we have even helped nature by driving vehicles and riding in plains and trains, and even though we know that we can die from having sex with someone that has aids by getting aids ourself, we still do it anyway...... at least others do, since I am freshly broken up with my ex-fiance, I will not be having sex anymore with anyone, and I won't allow myself to be put in a situation where it may or can happen either. I know population has to go down in the #'s of people, but I choose to love myself to be one of the few still here for as long as my old age (when it gets here) allows me to.

wow..slow down there big fella...take it easy.

Birth control for the population should be taught that's where the overpopulation problem should be addressed.

you are speaking of murder. leave it to chance to depopulate the earth. I for one don't want to help the cause by contracting Ebola. Thanks but no thanks.

Anti-conceptive techniques will solve that. The more developed a society is, the less it reproduces.

It's not acceptable these days. It might be more useful to make sure that anyone who wants Depo Provera can get it.
