People never believe me when I say I might choose to be Wiccan a little later in my life. Even here people are asking me if I want to worship the devil. Wicca is not about worshiping the devil. That's just lies! Wicca is the opisite. It's about worshiping Nature, The God, The Goddess and learning that your holy Mother and Father are always with you. I do not want to do this because I want to be goth or different as some of my friends think. I simply like the Wiccan religion. My mother is budist and my father is a mix of many religions, there's nothing wrong with that. Why is it that people think that I just want to be Wiccan for the fun and games? Does anyone know how I can convince my friends I'm serious? I tried telling them this but they didn't listen.

Just do what you want and don't listen to them! Friends will lead you down some dark paths sometimes if you don't watch it. They don't know what you should do, only you know what you need to do in your life! So, answering your question: Just be friends with them but in the long run, do what you need to do for yourself. If this makes any sense to you at all.!

First of all before you choose any religion you should study it and decide if it feels right to you. Do you believe in the spirit of the living earth? This is the oldest religion in the world. It is also the most misunderstood and discriminated against. Its my guess you will hear alot of "its of the devil", but that is not a pagan god. Do research and you'll see.

There are things said in the bible that were of the time and are considered immoral by the standards of today. It says bad things about Jews too. During the burning time, conversion was forced on the native peoples of Europe. Religions that resisted "the crusaders" are still alive today.

The pagan religions were forced underground just like that of the Native Amercian pagans. Many of people who were killed or burned to death as "witches" were innocent farmers who lived in the country and converted last. These country folks were called pagan. I recommend everyone to dispell the myths for the sake of the honor of our ancestors. Please read this:

I have studied every religion I have found in the world and I ask for all to have tolerance for each other.

Peace.

Look, the idea of Wicca is looked down upon in society. I don't approve of that, but it is true. As a Wiccan, if you do become one, all you can do is educate people in it. Maybe be an in-the-closet wiccan, and don't tell your friends. People often don't understand that sort of thing. It's a difficult decision to become Wiccan because of the terrible views people have of it.

Wicca is often a teen fad, so I understand why people think it's a 'fun and games' thing. In trying to convice your friends, all I can say is that you need to make them understand that their not trusting you obviously shows that they aren't being good friends.

Good luck in your path, and Blessed Be!

Some people might come around, be more supportive, or at least understanding if they are educated- give them sources for more information. Others, will just always be stuck in the mud and unwilling to listen or learn. It took my father about 5 years to come around to my religion. Personally, I think he has grown so much from the experience and is more willing to question religion and maintain firm beliefs in the Divine on his own grounds instead of what others or a book say.

I understand. I am still working things out with my family and friends too. I guess all I can say is, if you are serious about your beliefs and are secure in your faith, than the people who love you will come to accept that. Don't ask for their approval, just let them see that you are happy being what you are- a person with enough self-knowledge and confidence to choose the life that is right for you. You may lose some people, but your real friends will stick by you, even encourage you, without question. Good luck.

They probably think that due to the fact that so many younger people who join do it only for the "fun" aspect of the religion. Which, in turn, makes them a Fluffy Pagan, rather than a serious one. I suggest that if you are wanting to be taken seriously, then you present the religion &/or your beliefs in a serious light... Do research on the religion (I think you will be surprised to find out it is not all that it claims to be... seriously). But if your friends do not listen to you now, don't worry about it. Don't discuss it with them. If they make fun of the idea, simply tell them that you refuse to discuss something that you are serious about with them if they continue to make fun of it. OR, you can always fall back on what most people here do... make fun of their own religions.

Good luck in your search. ^_^

If you have to convince your friends about what matters most to you..than you need to ask are they really your friends. Wicca is nature worship and anyone that says different doesn't know what they are talking about.

I know that wicca isn't related to satanism, but unfortunately practioners of the dark arts use similar terminology and this confuses people who aren't educated about this. I think that for those who are willing to listen to you, educate them. For those who are not willing to listen, just be polite and tell them we can agree to disagree. You might point out that you aren't disrespecting other religions, so you would appreciate respect too.

If this is your true calling then so be it! If your friends... are your friends... they'll know this will not change you as a person, that your still the same old you!
Depending on how old you are people won't take you seriously... just stick with your guns!
If they don't want to listen to you about your religion don't tell them... not unless they ask...
religion and polotics.... 2 things to stay away from! :)

if you search and found wicca that is beautiful. many people do not understand any pagan religions. i do not worship the devil because i do not believe in one, or heaven or hell. i was drawn to wicca, and most of my friends are christian. they ask me questions but i never force the issue, i let them bring it up.since i converted i am much happier.
blessed be

Just practice wicca, don't worry what other people think.
Just do it, don't need to talk about it so much or get approval.
Who cares about convincing others. Just become wiccan.
You don't have to show anyone that you are serious. Just get serious.
